It’s slighlty scripted, based off real life but technically what you see is NOT REAL and NOT completley spontaneous. However I would say it’s probably different than any reality show out there.

i have to say laguna beach is fake. my boyfriend always told me it was but i didnt believe him but when he pointed things out like the camera angles and how the cast talks to eachother and the fireworks kristin and steven watched were SO fake i believed him..i mean jason looks 30 not like a senior…and if these kids are sooo popular why werent any of them on like prom court or homecoming? how come it never shows them in school doing normal everyday things and sorry but getting hair extesions and going to cabo are not everyday normal things. its fake.

Hi. I could care less if Laguna Beach is real or not… All I want to know is. There’s an episode in the 2nd season where it’s the day all the guys ask the girls to prom. In the beginning of the show it has some music playing and I can’t find out who it is. Does anyone know? MTV makes it so damn hard to find out the tracks from their shows. Can I get some help here?

Here is the truth on Journey and its appearence on Laguna Beach.
I lived with Steven’s older brother in college. Last December during a graduation party at our house Journey was blared at an extremely aggressive volume, like it always should be. Steven was at this party. After the party the cd was no longer seen again. The first episode of Laguna Beach shows Steven driving back to town with Journey playing on his stereo. You do the math teeneyboppers.

okay, laguna beach is a great show. i don’t really think anyone should get so wrapped up in it to actually fight over whether it’s real or not. who cares?! it’s a show. that’s all it should be. but for people to “stereotype” all the actors/actresses on LB as either “rich bitches” or “assholes” is not fair. all social classes: rich AND poor have bitches and assholes. and to wine about your lack of money or to brag about how much you have on a blog is SO rediculous so please, get over yourselves. nobody wants to hear about it. keep it to yourself.
I think Laguna Beach is a ok show. I don’t think that it was right what Jason did to LC. I believe that they would off made a great couple. I also think what LC did was the right thing to do to not pay any attention to Jason when he messt up. I also think that Laguna Beach session 2 is better then session 1. I hope that they make a session three next year.

REAL INFO FROM SOMEONE WHO LIVES IN LAGUNA-
K so for all of you who do not live in Orange County, us who do do not call it “The OC” that’s lame… and i went to lower and middle school with Casey, se is just as fake as the TV show. Kristin does not go to USC now, she goes to Loyola Marymount and Casey is at Pepperdine with her amazingly hottttt older brother. Their last name is Reinhart by the way. I’ve been there countless times when they have been filming and it is all scripted. The scene where they show talan and taylor at dinner before winter formal was filmed in May if that gives you an idea of how much editing goes on and the producers sat there the entire time and spoke into their ear pieces giving them lines. LC lives in the neighborhood below mine and so does Lo… right across from my best friend… I’ve been in a fashion show at 7 Degrees for the boutiques in our town. It’s cool if you guys obsess about the show but know its like watching a show about kids in your own school… nothing is that drama filled, it IS scripted. BTW TALAN IS A BIGGER PLAYER IN REAL LIFE THAN JASON.. he has gone through like 6 of my friends within a few months, a few at the same time. Believe me, my best friend was on the Volleyball team with him and i hear alllll the stories haha have a nice day : )
One thing, the people are real and all were in the grades they said they were… even though Jason looks like thirty, just look in the yearbook from last year. Casey’s senior picture is totally her, fake tan, her horrible extensions, and so on. Kristin’s is cute and so it Talan’s. Anyways, they are real and we do go to Cabo and stuff. I’m going to Costa Rica for Spring Break cuz it’s more fun. ok bye
I forgot, one moreee thing. Kristin was on court for Homecoming and she won, alongside a kid named Brett who was on the “inside prom” video (brown curly hair who comes up into the camera and smiles) and she wasn’t back for homecoming this year to crown the new princess so one of the other girls did it. Brett was there though cuz he is cool. Homecoming is pre-filming for the season so that was never on there. NEXT SEASON: LC’s little sister and Cami (the one who went to prom with jason) are both cast already… just to let you know!

Okay, so I have alot to say about all these damn comments. I am a frequent viewer of the show. I think Lauren Conrad is such a beautiful chik with a great personality. I met her once at a club in SoCal. I love the show, It’s great entertainment. The cast of the show are in fact real people, but some of the dramas are a little “staged”, I’m not saying that it is scripted, just a little staged. Also, my family happens to be very wealthy. I live in a 5 million dollar home in Ft. Lauderdale, and I drive a Mercedes Benz…. all only at the age of 19. I am far from spoiled! My parents started from nothing and made an incredible home, and life for my siblings and I. I have no limits on what I spend. I completely understand how alot of people can see young adults driving BMW’s and Benz’s and just flip out. But I know how it feels to be on both sides of the spectrum first-hand. Wealthy teens just happen to be lucky. Their lives are very different from those of lower class, or even middle class. Stop saying how “unreal” it is… it is unreal to you, but not to all. I am sick of people looking at me and other people of my status (L.B. cast) and making false judgments about our lives. I am a good person, and I go to a University so I can make a life just as good as the one I have now for my future children. People need to stop envying wealthy people and jsut get thier shit together and learn that this world is a game… whoever has the most money wins. That’s just how this life works. If you don’t like L.B., then don’t fucking watch it. It’s that simple. There is no need to put so much time into writing something negative, about something you dislike so much… It just doesn’t make sense! If you are going to reccomend that someone “go read a book”, then take your own damn advice and log off your little computer and head to the library!

Okay Laguna Beach is totally real. I was in Laguna for Vacation and talked to a girl that worked in the Surf And Sport and she said it was all based on their real lives. This show is completely scripted. I went to Laguan beach highschool with Lauren, Stephen, Lo and so on. They even said it. Their pretty much paid actors. By the way, Krisitn is a biotch. She also smells like tuna. Believe me a lot of people have said so. Kristin will never amount to anything because she’s a complete airhead. Also Stephen lives in a trailer. I love Laguna Beach!!! I love Kristin she is my fav!! and I cant stand Jessica she is so stupid, and desperate, any guy could screw her over and she would just put up with it! Hey I am Katie and I am Stephen’s(from Laguna Beach) cousin and i was viewing this site and saw you all are talking about wheter it is real or not. Well here is the answer that stephen gave to me about the show after he was done with the first season and came up to San Fransico. It is all real but not all the situations are. The show gives the kids some scence or situation if nothing is happening already because otherwise the show would be boring with no action.The camera and show crew give the kids a setting and a situation such as a party and pick who is invited and who is not (creating automatic drama) and then let the kids play it out from there. So yes most of it is real but some scenes/situations are set up to happen but played out by the kids with no acting involved.
Oh my goodness. It’s not that big of a deal if some ppl think it’s real and some think it’s fake. I personally think the storylines are real, and that a lot of the people who claim to know the cast are just lying, but thats just my opinion. And that’s exactly what everyone is expressing. Simply their opinion! So don’t get so offended if someone doesn’t agree with you… And if you hate LB, then I’m confused as to why you are researching it, but whatever… and don’t tell others to get a life, if you are posting about something you hate, thats a true sign of lack of a life.
I fully, 100% agree with Laguna Local. As a resident of Orange County, I have done research on the growth of this county and yes we are priveldged in many ways and I am truly thankful for that, but the crap mtv is feeding you guys is bull****. For one Laguna is originally based on its large artistic community. It is not about surfing or anything like that, although those are bonuses. The homes were way cheaper about less than a decade ago compared to how much they are worth now so don’t think that the parents of the kids on that show spent millions of bucks on those houses b/c that’s a lie. So they’re not as rich as you may think, but they are very priveldged than many but why idolize that? Why make yourself inferior to these people who are just like you and me? Oh and yeah most of those kids aren’t even true Orange County-ians, some of them moved here within the past 5 years. But yeah, most of the people who love this show obviously don’t live here b/c there are barely any kids who actually live in the OC who adore it. Yeah they think it’s cool but it’s not how life really is around here. So to those of you who are “in love with the show” and “can’t live without it” the true “OC-ers” know that u guys are a bunch of wannabe’s so stop making yourself look so desperate to live lives like we do, which most likely isn’t that different than you.

the show is real/staged cause i’ve read a bunch of interviews with the producers and cast they say that they film on certain days and if they miss something important then they make the kids retell it in conversation like when jason dumped jessica he broke up with her in person the week before,but production made him call her and break up with her over the phone…..also they make the cast call the producers and tell them where they are gonna be so if anything happens they are there.

A key topic had to be covered and there was a person called an on site story co-ordinator who worked with a director in deciding at the time whether a take worked and ensured that certain lines were included.
