Watch Billy Corgan’s Speech At The Alternative Press Music Awards
Last night in Cleveland, Alternative Press held its first-ever Alternative Press Music Awards show, and it presented its first-ever Vanguard Award, a lifetime-achievement type of thing, to the Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. At the show, the recently-retired pro wrestler CM Punk (and fellow Chicago contrarian) presented Corgan with the award. And as he accepted the award, Corgan said some very Billy Corgan things: “Over 25 years ago, I made the decision that I was going to push your buttons, or the people that came before you, or the people that came before you. I like to think that I’m receiving this in humility because I’m willing to push your buttons, because I’m willing to tell you to go fuck yourself. I didn’t start a band to be anybody’s bitch, I started a band to kick your fucking head in.” Watch the speech below.
This would probably be a good place to mention that I really miss Punk as a wrestler. He looks good in a suit!
