i am so sick of hearing all these racist comments. yes, i admit, i was — and still am –disturbed by the length of time it took for new orleans to get help. none of us knows why. and we may never know. we can only speculate. but, i am disgusted that this is being used as a “platform” for more of it’s-the-white-man-keeping-the-black-man-down propaganda. for kanye west (and apparently the many who agree with him) to accuse bush of “not caring for black people” is pathetic. that’s called being judgmental. if bush hated black people so much, he wouldn’t have condoleezza rice and colin powell working for him. i find it interesting that these same blacks respected clinton who, by the way, NEVER hired any blacks. hmmm… and, i wonder, if this new orleans disaster had happened on clinton’s watch i guarantee that you wouldn’t be hearing kanye and all the others accusing him of “not caring for black people.” no way. liberals and racist blacks have hated bush from the get go… and this is just a perfect opportunity to express their deep seated hatred for him and for anyone else who disagrees with their views. i think it’s pathetic and sad that at a time like this –when so many are suffering — that so many people are expressing such hatred. i guess it takes something like this to reveal what’s really going on in the hearts and minds of many. i’m ashamed to be an american.
I believe it totally stupid that West made the comments he did. It took so long to get relief there because plans that NORTHCOM had to help were dependent upon there being some semblance of infrastructure left in the city of New Orleans. 40,000 troops have to be fed and given water or they become useless to those they are trying to help. That couldn’t happen immediately because noone imagined or foresaw what actually did happen to New Orleans. If any of you had spent one day in the military and knew anything about the effort it takes to deploy then you would understand. It’s not a money issue or a race issue. And it’s not about New Orleans having so many people living in poverty. Every metro area in the country has that. It’s about there being absolutely no infrastructure left that the plan relied upon. The plan has since changed and flexed to accommodate the current conditions prevalent in New Orleans and help has arrived. You can’t just change plans immediately when they involve the number of personnel and equipment needed in New Orleans. If any of you had any managerial experience you would understand that. The military makes its living by adapting and overcoming obstacles and that’s what they have done. Those of you complaining that have served, I respect your comments. For those of you that haven’t, don’t criticize what you don’t understand. And for all of you with any sense reading comments in this forum just remember never to argue with idiots. They’ll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Oh yeah. I forgot to say that Kanye West is an ignorant man. Just plain ignorant. I can’t stand entertainers that think that just because they are entertainers they now understand politics. If it weren’t for their status, no one would listen to them, period. How much has Kanye donated to help hurricane victims? Has he been to New Orleans and seen the devastation? Has he broken a sweat helping to save someone’s life? Has he hung from a rope underneath a helicopter and pulled someone to safety? Rather than criticize he should thank those in the military for being the rough and ready men that he could not even fathom being and for protecting his right to speak his mind, regardless of how ignorant and shallow his comments are.

I have lost all respect for Kanye West. This hurricane is NOT about race. It is about people who are SUFFERING, NOT because of our government, but because of a NATURAL DISASTER. I’m educated enough to know that you can NOT blame something of this magnitude on one person. President Bush has always fought for this country, he rushed to our aid on September 11th right? Were there not African Americans affected by that? So why would he treat this situation any differently? There is no way we could have truly prepared ourselves for the horrors of hurricane Katrina. No matter how much money we have or supplies available, there were bound to be mistakes or miscalculations. Even if there wasnt, people would still suffer. Why? Because we are human, and so are politicans. So Kanye, next time you want to make a jackass racist comment like that on national television, at least back it up with facts. REAL facts. For example, President Bush has been trying to fix those levies in New Orleans forever, and before him, the situation was brought up to the Clinton and Carter administrations. SO there, see? i’m not denying the fact that a majority of looters shown were black. MSNBC had a nice “feel good” story about all these good Samaritans helping a couple whose vehicle ran out of gas and had a flat tire and the kids in the car were hungry blah blah blah in some parking lot in MS. they happened to be white as were all the “Samaritans”. funny how much positive attention you can get when a camera is on you and that camera is broadcasting to the world. i don’t immerse myself in all the New Orleans stories so i haven’t had the time to see the white looters. do they show them on Fox News or something?
The people who stayed and did not evacuate were the people who did not have enough money to do so. Mr West needs to realize it’s not black people, its poor people. He knows nothing about that. The crisis that Katrina has left behind leaves everyone wanting someone to blame. We need to focus on helping. I live in LA, 30 minutes north of New Orleans. My house ended up okay, I wish everyone elses did too. (I did not vote for Bush, I do not blame him for Katrina, only for Iraq.)

There are organizations and programs for black people all over the place. I didn’t get a merit scholarship because my score was two points below the cutoff. But a black girl at my school scored ten points lower than I did and she got a scholarship…because she was black. I guess the government had lower expectations for her. Of course…we’re all equal. N.O. was a horrible situation and a lot of it had to do with ignorance and class. Look how well Houston and the surrounding areas reacted to Rita? I am sure Katrina taught them better. But even in a desparate wiat for time onthe highways running out of gas and being hot they still acted like decent human beings.
It makes me mad that I have to give money to ppl like those in N.O. because they “have nothing”. Bullshit! They get money from our taxes to help support their laziness. So many of them don’t work. I saw many strong looking grown adults there that could have made a difference in the situation they were in at the dome and collesium(sp). What did I see….a lot of cussing and yelling and only one lady raking the trash. I bet she was one of the few who had a job in that city.
One of the evacuees who came to our city told me that he worked for UPS and he said a large percent of the city was worthless. A bunch of drugs, gangs and lazy asses.
Comments were made how America was there for the tsunami victims. It took us a little while to get there as well. The difference…the victims actually got out there and started helping with the rescue efforts. I even saw kids picking up debris. All I saw at the dome was whining and crying. Yeah…they were in a horrible situation but don’t just sit there and whine….do something about it until help arrives. Maybe the next time N.O does get a hurricane maybe they will haul ass out of time in a decent manner. Oh I forgot…they will because all of the the cities that took some of the evacuees will end up having to provide for them forever now because they are too lazy to get up and move back home. Only the ones with a job will go back and N.O. will actually become a decent city.

They should reduce the benefit given to job less people so they are forced to get a job. Want to know why America was booming in the 1920′s? Because taxes were low and there was no state benefits. People were forced to work hard. That led to the greatest boom in American history. Under the only cicumstances should people recieve benefits and that is if they’re disabled.
