Chan Marshall is a mom now. As far as I know, the always-private Cat Power hasn’t said anything publicly about being pregnant. But Marshall has been thinking about something a lot of us have been thinking about in the past few days: The heartbreaking unrest in Baltimore in the wake of Freddie Gray’s awful death. And on Instagram late last night, she posted a video from the protests, mentioning the fact that she just had a baby almost as an aside: “I had a baby, got out of the hospital & I didn’t even hear about #baltimore till just now.” That’s a pretty good excuse for not paying attention to the news.
