He was right. Mendez has been getting some airplay on WFMU and WNYU, in anticipation of his album’s October release. He’s also gotten a little attention from the blogs. The bottom line is, if you like Elliott Smith or Hayden, you’ll almost certainly like this whole album.

Miguel’s pretty good. I used to drive delivery with a guy named Miguel. He drank a lot of beer. But not when he drove. But maybe before he drove.
Sounds like Damien Jurado or the more melodic sides of Akron/Family
i can see the Elliott Smith connection. this is nice.
Not a bad start. Tends to rip off Anton Newcombe and Brian Jonestown Massacre too much, but a pleasant listen nevertheless. Good stoner folk for people who used to like Beck.
