Heems Folds Greedhead Label, Calls Out Unappreciative Roster
Himanshu Suri, aka rapper and former Das Racist member Heems, has been running his own Greedhead label since 2008. He started it to put out Das Racist material, and after Das Racist broke up in 2012, Greedhead released solo mixtapes from both Heems and Kool A.D., along with records by friends like Le1f, Meyhem Lauren, Big Baby Gandhi, Lakutis, and comedian Joe Mande. Last year, Heems tweeted about having to fold Greedhead soon due to financial concerns, and now he’s just doing just that. He announced today via a series of tweets that he’s shutting it down, and he also took the opportunity to call out his roster for being unappreciative of his work and essentially just using him and his budget. Read his statements below.
I'm folding Greedhead as a label because mostly my artists/"friends" used me for their recording budgets and PR and never appreciated shit.

While Greedhead was fun, putting out 20 free records cost me at least 10,000$ and those people and their debt ignore me and resent me now.

When peoples shit dont pop iss easy to blame me, the junkie mgr, or the record label or PR or anyone but themselves. I get it. Im an artist.

If I dropped stacks on your project it wasn't to benefit me.

Maybe my shit pops off cause I don't blame others for my shortcomings. I know I'm a piece of shit. I been knowing it.

So long as I make music Greedhead will exist but I'm done shining that light on other people who don't appreciate it. I want the spotlight.
