The Mountain Goats – “Used To Haunt”
Our apologies for not being more up on the teenage-movie soundtrack-album world, but the soundtrack for the new drama Paper Towns has been out for a few weeks, and it looks pretty great. The album includes some great previously-released songs from people like the War on Drugs, Vampire Weekend, HAIM, Twin Shadow, and Santigold. It also has “Used To Haunt,” a Mountain Goats song that’s never seen release. (John Green, the young-adult lit baron who wrote the novel that serves as Paper Towns’ source material, is a vocal Mountain Goats fan, so that probably explains its presence.) “Used To Haunt” is a lovely and evocative piano-based song, and PunkNews reports that it comes from the same sessions that produced the Mountain Goats’ 2011 album All Eternals Deck. Check it out below.
The Paper Towns soundtrack is out now on Atlantic. The Mountain Goats’ great new pro-wrestling-themed album Beat The Champ is out now on Merge, and you can read a whole lot more about that here.
