Who should Stereogum cover?

I think we’ve got Thursday night down:
New Pornographers –> Arcade Fire –> Tom Vek

Otherwise … would love some recommendations.

  1. Jealous: CMJ as a whole & New Pornographers…but they’ll be here Sep. 30!

    For your consideration:
    The Dudley Corporation
Goblin C*ck (Rob Crow of Pinback side project…for a serious “heavy” metal laugh, really)

At the risk of sounding stupid, of which I am, what does CMJ stand for?

    Thank you!

  2. It stands for College Music Journal.

  3. Gracias jed.

  4. Drag Citizen, Saturday night, midnight, Continental. They’re gonna bring back glam, those guys. You watch.

Giraffes, earlier Saturday night, Pussycat Lounge. Rock AND boobs, can’t beat that.

  5. Aqueduct, American Princes…

    Your Enemies Friends

  7. check out eiffel tower tonight. they rock.

  8. Aren’t Arcade Fire about ready to be set free to fly on their own by the blog community? The ‘gums coverage of them at last year’s CMJ pretty much broke them along with the NYT write up. They’ve been on TV with Bowie, doing Letterman tonight and playing the big corporate KROQ festival out here Saturday. Time for the next one…

  9. We Are Scientists are playing Sat. at Scenic. They did a great interview this week here: http://script.blogs.com/script/2005/09/script_from_wha.html

  10. ditto the American Princes…

  11. If you go to Eiffel Tower, please scream a request for “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”. I’m sure they never get tired of that.

devin davis (cb 313 gallery) is good, but he’s at the same time as arcade fire i think. he also plays early (daystage at the lincoln center 12:15pm) so you could catch that. he did something for kexp seattle this morning.

Yeah, but then I’d be out $40.
Plus, I wouldn’t mind seeing Bell Orchestre.

We WILL be covering Scientists on Saturday!

    agreement on the devin davis…

you should also, if possible, try to catch the lookout showcase at rothko on thursday night. troubled hubble, one of my personal favorites, puts on an absolutely *awesome* show. you will be smiling and bouncing for days.

  36. Check out Cameron McGill 9/15/05 @ Arlene’s Grocery, 8:30pm. Chicago based rocker. Sounds a bit like ryan adams or wilco. Sweats blood on stage. Rocks my ipod on a regular basis

  37. Check out the High Dials at Arlene Grocery on Friday @ 7:45. I just saw them open for BJM in Portland OR last weekend and they blew BJM away. BJM had to be the worst I’ve seen them in years. Drunk, shitty sound, shitty attitude (but that could have been PDX).

The High Dials rocked, including an amazing Sitar jam at the end that mesmorized me.

  38. Hey, finally went to the link…Dungen’s playing the CMJ…I wouldn’t pass the fuzzy guitar goodness for anything. Well, and the hair!

  39. Dutchie Caray  |   Posted on Sep 15th, 2005

The Evil Queens Midnight at Pussycat Lounge, some real rock recommended by the fabulous Donewaiting.com

  40. If you can get tix to the Mercury Lounge tonight, local boys The Wrens will definitely go all out.

Jim Yoshii Pile-Up is a personal favorite of mine. Never disappoints.

Dudley Corporation opened for JYPU in San Francisco a couple weekends ago and honestly blew me away. DAMN they’re good, and catchy. I might put them in the n.b.t. category.

All three are on the same label.

Its a shame I will be arriving for the events one day too late to catch this show.
