Madonna’s new single is out, but as a ringtone only for now.
I found an MP3 sample here. Kylie meets ABBA.
The new full-length Confessions On A Dancefloor is out in November. For the album cover Esther wisely chose to hide her face.

MADONNA RULES.
I have nothing but LOVE for a woman who is still evolving artisticly, intellectually, and spiritually. Why would anyone choose to bring her down when her spirit is so alive in this lifetime?
Why do we not all learn to just simply be inspired by her and support her music and her message…all MADONNA fans lets try to spread her message as best as we can because LOVE CONQUERS HATE!
I was fortunate to see her twice in concert in Toronto and the energy of the stadium was unbelievably positive!
I cant wait for Confessions on a Dancefloor! and I hope she comes to Canada again!
I THINK ITS ABOUT TIME MADGE GOT US ALL ON THE DANCE FLOOR AGAIN.
I KNOW ALL THE GAY AND STR8 COMMUNITY WILL BE SHOUTING FOR MORE IN THE CLUBS. HUNG UP IS WICKED.
……….CARRY ON MADONNA!!!!
……….MAKE MARIAH CAREY PRAY TO BE LIKE U WHEN SHE HITS 47.LOL

wow all i can say is that i am lobing this new sound, Hung Up sounds like it will be big. she is always on the edge she rocks.
lets not forget that she is the most sucessful female recording artist in history, she is by far the most famous woman in the world, not to mention one of the richest. and c’mon Kylie has nothing on Madonna, even she said it ” Madonna is the queen, and i am the princess.
yay
she is back i cant wait for this album.
Madonna rocks , she will always rock no matter what , shes a legend and will always be rememebered .Just because she is getting older , means nothing , shes 48 , and so what , we all get older ,does not change who we are ,I LOVE U MADONNA FOREVER .
I learned English thanks to Madonna.
I started going in discos thanks to Madonna.
I accepted myself for what I am thanks to Madonna.
I have been objective and critic when I did not approve an album or a song, but why, damn you all, WHY the same people who loved her, who followed her, who were proud to be her fan are now shitting her? Is that fashion victims result? Does it make you feel more “en vogue” than one keeping on thinking the same things for 20years? are you just having fun with this website or do you really think that? I can’t believe it.
Forget them Madonna, For some strange reason they feel ashamed to cry out their love for you but it is obvious they do.
Me too, of course.
To all of you Madonna haters out there, you all just don’t get it and you never have and you never will. She is just simply too sophisticated and she is always way ahead of her time. So to all of you Madonna hater out there, give it another 10 or 15 years, then you all might get it finally. Hahahahaha….
How funny it is to see how ENVIOUS LOSERS who don’t do anything with their lives tear Madonna apart. How easy it is to forget that she’s been a trendsetter since the 80′s and that, with incredible business sense, she has successfully marketed herself to the point of becoming a influential social/fashion/entertainment figure (not no mention FILTHY RICH). How many of you LOSERS can say that you have achieved such success? I DIDN’T THINK SO!!!
Anyway, you’ll be the ones buying her music and kissing her ass when this new album and singles top the charts. See you at the music stores you hypocrites!!!
Hey ya all – MADONNA rules – always has and always will. She’ll hit Number 1 with this single and the album and anything else she ever does! We salute Queen of Pop – yet again showing everyone else how it should be done!
I’ve loved madonna since I was three!! ( how ironic a three year old dancing to like a virgin–but whatever
She just simply rocks..i’ll be first in line to BUY her cd– not rip it off limewire.
btw– how is KYLIE?– isn’t she battling breast cancer?
Kylie is undergoing chemotherapy, and is said to be doing well. Madonna was one of the fist to send her love and best wishes toward Kylie when the news of her cancer was out. If fact, madonna always very thoughtful and gracious about these things as she was the first to phone Donatella Vercace when news of her Brother’s death was released. Although people love to hate her, she is NEVER and has never been one who has anything negative to say about any other artist, although others (ie..Mariah, Elton John, Janet Jackson) have said harsh things directed towards her.) She’s always been very gracious, and not much of a Diva (just looked and performed like one
If only everyone was as respectful, the world would be a much nicer place.
You are all so clever and witty that I am just astounded.
I am delighted that Madonna has released another album.. sorry how many is it now? cant wait to hear every track !
As for this ‘who copied whom’… I do believe this little tradition has been going on for many a century now, do you research as Gwen Stefani may not be as original as you think have a look through some old Vivien Westwood books.
GO MADONNA, GO KYLIE!!
They are doing something right to be going the longest and to get you pack on mongrels to talk about them so much! When is your album being released by the way?……never!

Thank you. Thats really disgusting.
madonna wanting to be kylie, HA, she did that years ago… she is just having fun, enjoy yourself
Hello- I’m actually looking forward to this new album. I have been seriously enjoying her work since ‘Ray Of Light’ immensely. Before then, it was pretty hit or miss w/me though I always respected her “being”. My taste in musick leans more towards artists like Siouxsie, Lydia Lunch, Jarboe, Ann Magnuson and Diamanda Galas (as far as females go) and Swans, Butthole Surfers, Coil, Current 93, and Psychic TV/Throbbing Gristle/Thee Majesty (basically N-E-Thing Genesis P.Orridge has a hand in)- that sort of more obscure and darker, heavy and psychOdelicate audio orgasm-inducer type of stuff!
BTW- to the person who wrote this quote:
“so glad I wasn’t the only one that noticed the blatant Abba rip off.
Posted by: jenny at September 19, 2005 11:41 PM” I thought you might like to know it’s NOT a “rip-off”, just a sample AND, she is THEE ONLY other artist besides (name escapes me- one of those “happy/hippie-like, r&b type” groups from the ’90s who ABBA has EVER ALLOWED to sample any of their songs- they are not big on people using samples at all, esp. of their work and are very protective/selective when it comes to an offer. Guess they have some appreciation/respect for her to allow her thee “honour”. It’s “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme” and that’s how I feel about this album- I want it NOW! At least I’d like to hear the first single or something ASAP. Not sure where or if I can even find it yet- have had no luck thus far- if anyone knows, please email me at: lsdiva@sbcglobal.net and let me know what to do/where to go to hear N-E-Thing from this album. Thanks and my best to all.
Kindest regards,
Mr. Stacy/elLiSDiva
OH- just my 2 cents on Kylie for what it’s worth. L-OV-=E her duet w/Nick Cave- “Where the wild roses grow”- simply astonishingly beautiful. Other than that, EH, no thanks.
RING RING RING GOES THE TELEPHONE

MOTHER FUCKERS XXXXXX
################################################# TIME WILL TELL,SO INTRESTING WHAT YOU FIND ON THE NET THESE DAYS.
Heard the track on Pete Tong’s Essential Selections last evening. Well, SDP’s Dub… Anyway, scorcing, red-hot, fired-up track. It’s so funky house it isn’t even funny. I’m going to buy the 12″ when it hits the shelves here in the UK.
exelente disco.exelente ao ponto de nao ser exagero dizer que depois de true blue esse seria seu melhor album, hung up esta ai para provar q a diva ainda tem folego para lancar ainda muitos albuns tao bons como esse.parabens
I laugh when I hear people make fun of Madonna, what does this woman have to do to get respect? Any one with have a brain, only needs to look at her fabulous body of work and longevity in this buisness to see how amazing of a talent she is. Can’t wait for the new album! I just love what I heard so far, “Hung Up”, is going to be great!!! take it from me, I will be 39 years old, on the 15th of October. So, I know what to expect, anyone who disagrees, please get a life.
I laugh when I hear people make fun of Madonna, what does this woman have to do to get respect? Madonna continues to be an influential force in pop culture. During her career, she has been hated and loved by millions of people around the world. Most will admit that Madonna is one smart woman.
At this point, Madonna has become a fixture in not only music history, but world history. It is hard to imagine another female entertainer creating such a stir as she has during the past 20 odd years. She will influence many others in the future and show us all how to sustain a successful career in any field.
Hung Up samples but doesnt “rip off” Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) by ABBA, duh.
Hey ……
Awsome record! Now just to put the record straight, Madonna wore hot-pants before Kylie was even born and talking of copying….most of Miss Minogue’s stuff has followed in a very Madonna style 2 years down the line.
By sampling the Abba tune, Madonna (i think) recognises another piece of fantastic work! Gives it a 2nd chance one could almost say.
I rest my case….
Listen Up…Talk all the shit u want..yes she is gettting older but that dosent mean she cant come out with music. Hate all u want on her. But she is very capable of her abilities to create something for ones who like her. She has been a presence in my youth and i followed her from the first album not knowing what kind of impact she would of made. she is someone who lives in the world like all of us .. one thing is she is doing despite what some may wish
Madonna is like a virus, but in a good sense: she lives thanks to other lifes.
at this time, she would never be succesful again without copying debbie harry, cindy lauper, allison goldfrapp or kylie minogue
but actually, she is all them together multiplied by 100000.
i like her a lote.
i wish i were that healthy and wealthy at my 50′s.
Madonna rules the music world and there will NEVER be anyone like her or as accomplished as her. I cannot wait for COAD. Nobody even comes close to her!
Hi! ive followed Madonna 4 over 20 years 1 things 4 sure ive never bored of her she keeps us on our toes and im as excited as ever to find out what the albums like. its fair to have your own apinion but give it a chance 1st its not been released yet & most people have just heard a snippit. Sounds good to me Cant w8 a the album or the dvd Madonna will always be renenbered 4 inspiring others and bring joy into peoples lives and being a strong woman who has lead the way and opened doors 4 others. Some of you are right she is a ratety and not many come close but everyone is intiteled to follow there dreams and try Everyone shines in there own way Hope those who are looking 4wd to t enjoy it as much as im sure i will. Thanx
oops sorry i ment to say she is a rarity! Enjoy xx
I WANT TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR TO ALL OUTSIDE OF AMERICA.WE ARE NOT ALL IGNORANT TO SOMEONE AS TALENTED AS KYLIE MINOGUE, I HAVE LOVED HER SINCE THE EIGHTIES.I HAVE ALSO GROWN UP WITH MADONNA. I RESPECT AND LOVE BOTH OF THESE ARTISTS IN DIFFERENT WAYS BECAUSE THEY ARE TWO SEPERATE ENTITIES, ONE DOES NOT OVERSHADOW THE OTHER, THEY ARE BOTH AMAZING IN THEIR OWN RIGHT.I LISTEN TO BOTH ARTIST’S ALBUMS.I AM ANTICIPATING THAT THIS ALBUM OF MADONNA’S WILL BE NOTHING SHORT OF PURE FUN AND NO BULLSHIT!
your’e all nuts!! I love madonna, i love her music, i love everyting about her!! Mind you…she doesnt have to best voice in the world but thats irrelevant really….her misic is great…..she is a bloody good businessw woman and thats why she is where she is today!! I cant wait for the new album!! Bring it on!!!
your’e all nuts!! just thought i should make that clear!!

How dare you IDIOTS say “Hung Up” is a Rip Off of “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! by Abba? Does anyone out there know the term SAMPLING? A lot of the music out there has samples. Hmmmm….let’s see, over 90% of certain trash called “Gangsta” Rap & Rap (which by the way it is not music, just a rip off of songs from the past 3-4 decades and a way for people without talent or creativity to bark about shit no one except criminals cares about) samples old tunes. Enough said about that.
A lot of artists have, in one way or another, sampled someone else’s tunes. You hear them in the clubs, you hear them on the radio, you download them all the time.
I have been lucky to have listened to 3 versions of “Hung Up” and they are SICK (YES, they are that GOOD)!!! Outside Erasure & Abbacadabra, among others, she is the only performer who has been able to sample Abba & Stuart Price has done an outstanding job at using these samples tastefully (Stuart, after listening to your mixes of “Avalon” by Juliet and “Four to the Floor” by Starsailor I must say I’m hooked!). Just wait until it hits the clubs, even our dead gradpas will be shaking their asses in their graves.
Anyway, Madonna reigns supreme over copycats & wannabes, in more ways than one.
Again, how many of you have achieved as much as Madonna has? Hmmmm…I didn’t think so.
And it all started with a girl who moved to New York City with just $60 dollars in her pocket and without a place to live…
you mentioned erasure and abbacadabra sampling abba songs but thats weong the same as the a teens did some as well the copied abba songs word for wordi dont class that as sampling i thing madonna is the only most respected artise to have a sample or snippet as i say to use in her song…….
Since High School I’ve been, so snobish about music, and throw bands out like paper towels. By the way, my band of the moment is White Rose Movement (check them out), but whenever a new Madonna album comes out I go into total M mode. I get obsessed all over again. Bands like She Wants Revenge, Lake Trout and Primal Scream just got bumped back in my Library to make room for all my old Madonna faves. I’ve worshiped every M album since I was 6 years old and got the “True Blue” vinal record for Christmas, now I’m 26 and next month I’m getting Confessions on itunes as soon as its out! No matter where I am, her voice is always home.
New clip of Hung Up was posted TODAY on MySpace.com. Goto http://www.myspace.com/madonna
if there’s one thing she’s proved is that whatever people think of her, they still can’t stop talking aboout her.that’s all she really wants. to be remembered as a revolutionary, a pioneer in pop music.she proved that with everything from like a prayer to the sex book.
she’s got like 50some hit singles, she deserves the credit already. besides, stu price (aka jaques lucont) has been turning out the hottestm remixes of the last 2 or 3 years: starsailor, the killers, juliet, scissor sisters,no doubt, missy, goldfrapp, new order…confessions is gonna rock!!! hung up’s hot, and she is the first artist that abba has allowed to sample direct. it’s retro, and it’s new. “future disco” sounds about right!!!! don’t ever stop, madonna!! Detroit 2001 & a Toronto 2004 were incredible!
Come on, people! Lighten up and don’t take everything so seriously!
You freakin’ saddo’s who sit there mocking a woman who made the big time regardless as to how she managed it ,she did it, and YOU will still be sat there mocking her when she has had another twenty years of success as THE biggest female influence this world has EVER seen in the music industry. Its time you learned dont ya think!!!
i went in a shop today and i saw a calender of kylie and in big shinny glittery writing it said queen pop can someone tell me who give her this name i thought hers was slut of pop
Lets be mature about this. Kylie and Madonna are alies, and I seriously doubt Kylie Minogue is any threat to the Immaculate One.
Anyhow, if you have to bash someone, let it be Mariah Scarey, now THERE is one trashy slut.

i’m sorry i may be from america but i know kylie minogue very well. in fact i like her too. i listened to her from her very first single “i should be so lucky”. considering the fact that i have witnessed this aussie girl’s career blossom, i knew she could acheive her iconic status…only if she creates her own formula and imagery. i have seen four of her concert videos and they are very reflective of madonna’s concept. her fever 2002 concert has a very striking resemblance to madonna’s drowned world-concept wise. if kylie could find her own way of artistic expression…only then can her name stand all on it’s own. otherwise she will most of the time be referred to as a madonna wanna be. no offense meant to avid kylie minogue fans (I BELIVE IN YOU vid had kylie do so much hand/arm gestures which is very madonna but GIVING YOU UP is cool). and to kylie- get well soon.
and oh, ms carey: you should have stuck to ur original formula. the ” love takes time” days. why shift to the ” OMG who-is-ur-stylist-shake it-off image. that way u can grow old singing high octave ballads ’till u grow old. and age gracefully.
I found the track online last night! It is amazing! I was very surprised it has been leaked!
LOVE U MADONNA AND ALWAYS WILL. TEACH THEM WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT.
I want to make a serious post here. I will say that I have been a fan for 21 years and for a good reason. She puts out good shit and that’s the bottom line. I don’t know Stuart Price or what kind of producer he is, however, I do know Madonna’s track record and there isn’t much he could get away with musically without her imput. Which many well respected procuders have referred to her as a brillian woman when it comes to sound and music, and her track record proves that. As far as her age, how many 47 year olds in the work force today do you know are ready to retire and why should she be any different only because she happens to be a celebrity. Where in the “pop” rule books does it say there is a cutt off age for making music. That’s crazy! Look at the Rolling Stones. They still rock (although I’m not a fan) and they’ve got to be in their mid sixties at least. Also, most of you have only heard a clip. Search some Madonna sites where the song is being played in clubs and the response is insane. Like her or not, for what ever reason, she is going to ultimately decide when it’s time to call it quits. She is an excellent role model for women getting older. It’s always ok to be sexy, and she is!! So no she isn’t giving head to coke bottles anymore (I will admit those were some exciting time), but she’s grown as a person and has much more confidence in herself now than she did then. Did you hear the singing on her last tour…Amazing, and she was never really known for having a very good voice. I’m telling you, there was a reason she was given the name Madonna other than the fact that it was her mothers name. She was put here to make this mark on the world I truly believe that. This song is going to going to be a hit I can feel it. This album is going to be a hit as well. She has one more record to complete before she ends her deal with WBR, and who knows, she may do something different. One thing is for sure, she’ll always be doing something. Finally I will say that Madonna is the Queen of pop, and will oficially get that title. She revolutionized the music industry when she came out, and no one since has made such an impact.
I’ve been a big madonna fan for years. I even got American Life. But serously Madonna is starting to become annoying. The Gap/versace/motorola commercials, lame, specially coming from madonna who presented herself in American Life as anti stablishment, this is just hipocracy without sense of humor. Then the britney kiss, thats just lowering herself, cause we all know that Britney sucks. Madonna really wants attention and she is desperate, even to the point to make children’s books. And I’ve heard she is getting a children’s clothing line, I’m sorry this sounds less Madonna, more Jlo, we are losing her. And now, Madonna after a long creative career, she plays a song with obvious demos and stupid lyrics. I’m sorry but this new song sounds unispired and not very Madonna.Abba did it better, and know it doesn’t sound like Goldfrapp, because they are great and this is not.I say Kylie should be the new Madonna, its her turn now. This new song is just needy, corporate, kaballah bullshit mother esther. And the cover come on, I expected more from madonna. We know she is getting old, why not celebrate it. Now all we get is a obviosly digitally fixed bad picture. Madonna should just retire, or really get her shit together, and remember that above all she use to be an artist, not just another product.
this song is trash, but hey, trash and madonna go really well
I think you’re taking this way too seriously. Madonna has returned to the dancefloor to make a feelgood dance pop album. Big deal, it’s a fun song. I personally liked the American life cd and prefer Madonna when she’s being more experimental and artistic, but it’s her turn to reinstate herself as the queen of dancepop, and why it should bother some of you so is absurd. And useless, the irony being that it will no doubt completely outsell American Life. Whatever, I’m having a blast with this new cd already. That any of you would be ageist is really disturbing, and if she wants to have an airbrushed cover, I think most young stars these days airbrush covers. Um…. have a look at the goldfrapp cover, why dont you (helloooooo airbrush). It’s hardly an earth shattering moment when a star is airbrushed. Madonna has inspired me alot over the years – not just creatively, but just as a human being. And she still does. Good on ‘ya Maddy!
According to the architecture outlined in the Drummond/Cauty classic “The Manual (How to Have a Number One the Easy Way”, this song follows all of THE GOLDEN RULES to the letter. It will undoubtedly be a smash hit in the UK, if not across the board.
Excerpt from [
I remember when Madonna’s first album came out and how everyone was talking about it. Madonna has come full circle with this new CD. It’s going to rock the entire globe. Get ready!
this one goes to the haters!
yeah so she’s 50 big deal i wanna see ya sonofabitches selling millions of records, spending money, and living life the way she does at 50 or wait r u even there now at ur “prime”?, didn’t think so! so next time u critique her take a look at urself sitting there in front of the computer with ur slouched back, making not much more than minimum wage and do me a favor, SHOT URSELF! (i mean all this in a loving way!)
On a more positive note, love the single and can’t wait for the documentary!
someone clean the toilet cuz madonna is THE shit!!!
VIVA madonna!
i found a mp3 link:

You naysayers would be immediately silenced once you see and hear what happens when the song is played at a club like I did last night. Its fucking magical. Everyone, young and old, gay and straight was on their feet here in San Diego.
just a note to let everyone know: HUNG UP IS NOT A COVER SONG. it uses one keyboard arrangement from the intro and chorus of abba’s gimme gimme gimme. one simple riff. the new song hints at nostalgia. once again, madonna takes something old and makes it new again. if anything, it’s a compliment to abba. they will probably make more royalties off hung up than they did with gimme gimme gimme. everyone just shut up, listen to the song (it’s on the radio now) and feel good. that’s all madonna wants. (and to be loved and make lots of cash, too, of course!!) enjoy, all you fans that have been waiting since last summer’s tour to see madonna shake it again! LOVES IT!
someone said about madonna making cloths for kids if you read the papers or the internet you would find it is lourdes who is infact making cloths for the children her own age and madonna is helping her fullfil what she wants to do so you need to get your facts right before you say something
and the books where wrote for her son but she decided to let everyone have them when someone read one of them and said this would make a good book have you actually read one of them they are quite good books for children
nice tune, cute lyrics, but my impression is that is more of a sampled madonna flavored consumer product created by greedy managers who wants to ride on the itunes wagon and make more money. Madonna started out with shallow lyrics, then turned deeper and deeper, “reinventing” what those happy tunes meant and giving them new meaning. My favorite example is the song called “Secret”. Madonna gave new deeper religous meaning to this song during te music tour on the live concerts. It really hit me. Freakin genious.
Listening to “Hung Up” to me Madonna is falling back to the shallow lyrics, dumb beat that is easy for the dj’s to mix with anything, and honestly it sounds like 1 in a million. I am sure this album will sell. It was designed to sell. by any means. The sad thing is that it will sell only because it has a madonna label on it, not because the real madonna is in it……
OMG!! I’m soo lovin’ her new stuff… “Hung up” was awesome… it’s like a retro-electronica at its finest. About Kylie & Madge feud, I think Kylie had created her identity in this business already w/ the released of her “Fever”… i must say, She gained a huge reputation & my respect to her w/ that album for it was a fresh electronica concept… It’s just that they’re being pitted together for they’re the only 2 survivors from the disco 80′s era that still casting enchantment w/ their music to us until now & the fact they are in the same genre in electronica (mainstream electro-pop)…
meanwhile, Time goes by so slowly…..
Julian Vargas’ wrote on October 15′th “Madonna should just retire…”
Julian, lets just face it, your bitter because
i gave you crabs. Im sorry, keep your head up. dont hate.
Who’s Madonna?
Is she some new indie-popster?
FUK YA’LL DISSIN MADONNA U LOWLIFE BITCH CUNTS FROM HELL. I’LL CUT YOU, BITCHES IF YOU DIS MY GURL!!!!
Woah….Ginga..!
I’m guessing the rug isn’t matching the curtains here?
After reading many postings, some positive and some negative, I must say that Madonna is a great performer and artist – always interesting. I know we all struggle from time to time, but she has had her share of hard times coming up. Instead of poking fun at her and other pop stars, such as Britney, Ashley Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, etc., we should be happy to see that they are realizing their dreams. I probably should not have compared her to them, but you get the idea.
Music is about having fun and not about being a serious artist all the time because being too serious can seem pretentious and become boring. Rather or not you think she is smart or talented, she is still here. Give her credit, and give her a break. You don’t see Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston doing it like Madonna, and they have wonderful voices. It’s not always all about the voice. Congratulations, Madonna, on remaining a top priority in the marketing department of Warner Bros. and on your out of this world career.
Madonna is still the nr 1.
Madonna rocks. She always has and always will. Instead of getting older she is getting fitter and more inspiring. I cannot wait to hear Confessions On A Dancefloor; Even the title is cool.
People comparing Kylie and Madonna….Get A Life!!!! They are both great artists who both will never be forgotten!! They are both one of few who have lasted so bloody long in an industry where your career can be over in 1 month. “Confessions” is going to be great!
I have been a Modonna fan since Burning Up in ’83. I am 42. I heard Hung Up and have played it a thousand times on Madonna.com. I have not been this excited about a Madonna song since Open Your Heart and before that Get into the Groove. On both those occasions I knew immediately they were going to be huge songs. I feel that way about Hung Up. I really hope in shoots to number 1 but I am not excited about the video because it has been at least a dozen years since she has looked hot. She could be hot again but she’d have to sse a plastic surgeon for a good rejuvination job – which she is too proud to do. But when I listen to Madonna on Hung Up, I think of Madonna at 28. Hey, you gotta use your imagination creatively!
kylie minogue topped the billboard hot 100 chart barely twice with locomotion and can’t get you out of my head. she really hasn’t conquered the globe yet. iconic? not yet. ironic? most likely.
just because her neo disco fever did cause a landmark in pop music, that still isn’t a reason to brag that she has done so much of a change in the music soundscape. i suggest she finds herself an artistic/creative expression more different from the queen.
I have loved Madonna since she started – i heard hung up yesterday and I loved it – I love the way she continually varies her work think ray of light think music think american life and now confessions.
She is always willing to take chances, and even though they don’t always work – that is the point. life is all about taking chances, taking risks, trying new things and how many times haven’t you fallen flat on your face – you get right up and start over again (now why does that sound slighly familiar?)
if you don’t like madonna – don’t buy the music, turn the tv and radio off – try knitting, try macrame – if you do then get ready for another round – good or bad she keeps stepping up and that is the real lesson.
the bonus is that you learn the lesson but on a dancefloor!!
okay, on AL Madonna’s been serious and she has been almost eaten alive, made fun of ( by those bomb iraq psychos mainly ). now she’s done something fun, relaxing ( but not stupid, why do people think intelectuals can’t go party and have fun ? ).
so no philosophy this time. okay, as long as it’s good. and this is good. brilliant. the abba sample gives new meaing to sample use. till today unknown songs were used as sample… now we have something we know well…
yesterday, I was down, and this song cheered me up. so together with Ray of Light, Love Profussion, La Isla Bonits, etc. this is gonna be song for my blues.
and to her new color ? DAMN, she looks good even in red hair and wearing pink, which is no-no to the rest of us mortals.
thank you Madonna!!!
Just been reading all the comments as I’m bored at work in london.
Ok, where to begin.
First of all, Madonna is only the 2nd artist to be given permission to sample Abba – the first was the Fugees who sampled The Name Of The Game for their Rumble in the Jungle tune.
For those who have decided to slag Abba off (not many, I grant you), you ought to read the interview Madge gave about how she had to BEG them to let her use the sample (and they didn’t give her an answer immediately) as she respects their music and their talents so much.
Benny & Bjorn eventually agreed as they had heard the propossed track and thought it was perfect. They equally have mutual respect for Madonna and all her achievements.
Which brings me to my next point – what about that word “respect”? As some of you have said, Kylie and Madge share a mutual respect for each other. Neither wants to be the other as they are artists in their own right. Shame that some of the comments couldn’t share that respect rather than simply slagging one or the other off.
There is enough room in the music industry for both and, let’s face it, the industry needs them both as there seems to be a distinct lack of talent out there with the potential for longevity (which both K and M have managed – which should be aplauded and not derided).
I am simply a fan of music and straight away can appreciate the new track, which, being honest, is made all the more special by the choice of sample (she’s a canny one that Madge!).
Just sit back and enjoy. If it ain’t your cup of tea, then “Push The Button!”
(That will make no sense to anyone in America as it’s the current No. 1 in the UK – and finally, I’ve just got back from a trip to Carolina – love your country – love the people – hope to be back soon)
For those of you who wish to own the new single, it is available for download on iTunes with a preorder of the new album, “Confessions On A Dance Floor”. The new album to be released on November 15th will be a non-stop mix of all 12 tracks and a Special Limited Edition album with a photo gallery of Madge, a personal diary, and the bonus single,”Fighting Spirit” will be released in December. The album cover art was photographed by Steven Klein and artwork by Giovanni Bianco. You can see the single’s cover art here:
i have heard only a brief sample of her new single “hung up” on the insider last night. from what i heard, it sounds great. i cant wait for the album to be released. Madonna is so great and influential in so many ways. kylie has nothing on her. i dont have all of her albums, but from the ones i have they are great. not one of them sucks (though i dont like the album “Music” that much, its still good). I like the way she keeps reinventing herself. you go girl. let me just say this though:
to people who think her last album “American Life” was a big disappointment, you all obviously are crazy. IT IS NOT anti-American in anyway, (and i live in america) so just ignore the critics, listen to the album, cuz your missing out on some great work. especially the song “Nothing fails”
I have now played Hung Up almost 100 times since purchasing it yesterday at work, and I like a lot of varied stuff. (The Pixies – The Ramones – The Killers – Velvet Underground – Prince, etc.) A good song is a good song and Hung Up is a good one, indeed.
Madonna has been the most intriguing pop star for over 20 years now. People bag on her for everything and the latest rage is to bag on her for living to 47 without quitting.
well, fuck you people. When she hits #1 with Hung Up, remember I said that.
PLEASE.. if anybody has the song, for the love of god send it to me.. ive been looking for the song for the past 2 weeks, i cant find it anywhere, please, if someone has it, send it to me, and ill send you another cool dance song similer to madonna.. please send it please!!!
in_unique_way@yahoo.com
At first I was unsure if I would like the song, given all the media hype and ABBA ?rip off? comments. Even tho I had my reservations? now I can?t keep playing ?Hung Up? on my iPod!
If people say it?s very Kylie-like, it?s because it?s light and fun with a cool beat, and that?s just classic Madonna. F- the lyrics, stop hatin? and just dance your ass off people! Thank you Madonna for giving us a great dance track!
And yes come November half the world will be dancing to her shit, and her following singles too. God save the Queen (of Pop).
I met Madonna at her premiere of “I’m Going to Tell You a Secret” and it was AMAZING. She looks great at 47, no fake boobs or face, natural and beautiful. She is the QUEEN. I LOVE “hung up”.
She owns the scene. Everyone else is jealous or has no taste! She rules, like I said before! She loves NY!
I love this song as well, but it sounds like it could sound the same without madonna singing it. Great to dance to, easy to listen, but you can say the same for the other 1000 dance tunes that come out every week.
Its not enough to be called a real madonna hit.
I am saying this despite I have all her albums, and waited years to se her to perform live….
Kylie Rules!!!!!period, she is pretty, unlike Madonna who is hard face…she is YOUNG, and dam hot, kylie sings great too and kylie from her 1994 Confide in me to date has proved she is a credible, cool artist who reinvents her self in different ways to even be compared with madge….im affraid madonna needs to hang up her crown, anyway ANYBODY could have a number one hit with Hung up and what a rip off, off Gwen Stefani, tick tock(time goes by, so slowly) what is that about
Please. Before you start saying Madonna is ripping of Gwen, you might want to take a step back and listen. Madonna has alrady made Gwen’s record at least 3 times already.
Ripping of Gwen? Hilarious.
since nobody mentioned it: in hung up, she says:
-time goes by so slowly for those who wait
-and those who run seem to have all the fun
both are lines from love song, her duet with prince from the like a prayer album.
from everything i’ve read about this upcoming album, it’s full of disco samples and throwbacks to her career. it sounds like its going to be the best album she’s ever made and a real tribute to her fans.
kylie rules… period??? pointless!!! when madonna is at kylie’s age now, she had pushed a lot of people’s buttons already (definitely including kylie’s) and hell more assertive, provocative, creative, beautiful and smart.
kylie is a nobody in the USA while madonna is bigger where kylie minogue is big, beat that! and kylie re-invents where madonna had left off…s_ck_r!
madonna is awesome on stage while kylie looks like a dumb and stiff barbie doll. amen
I like Madonna…but I’m not going to kiss her ass!
Just enjoy the music.
EVRYBODY you can listen to maddona’s new song “hung up” on madonna.com ITS TIGHT plus madonna is the QUEEN no matter what no matter how old she is
KYLIE IS …………………. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT UGLY AND WILL NEVER BEAT THE QUEEN …….. MADONNA “DUH”!!!!!!!!!!
MADONNA IS THE QUEEN OF MUSIC AND STYLE SHE INVENTED FASHION
I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEE HER NEW SONG HUNG UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just love it, Is a very unique and recycled way to describe it, And she practice yoga. That keeps her looking young.
i cant get over how many people wont leave her alone, if u dont like what she does, then fuckoff already. life is more than about criticizing others. especially when u have had over 60 top 40 hits. who has done that? nooooooooobody! anyone even dare to come close would be elvis presley and the beatles and most of them are dead, so for 47. she will easily become as she already is, the queen of pop and the most influential and inspiring act, single or group, in modern culture and contemporary culture. not bad for someone who had ambition and 35 dollars to her name when she came to nyc, i love her and her new album is going to redefine her as the queen of pop. not that she never lost that title. but just to prove a point to those skanky haters out there that insist that janet jackson (cant sing if her life depended on it), whitney houston (mrs crackhead bobby brown), kylie minogue (wish i could get her out of my head),scary mariah carey. the skank that she is, so ghetto , its not funny anymore, and jlo. who cant sing a note if whe was in a kindergarten choir class, that the true and only talent, all around, is madonna. good luck if these other skanks will surpass madonnas chart history. NOT GONNA HAPPEN, AND IF IT DOES, MADONNAS RICHER AND SMARTER, AND DOESNT HAVE TO MARRY TOMMY MOTOLLA FROM SONY. OR MARRY DRUG ADDICT BOBBY BROWN, OR JUMP FROM SKANK TO SKANK, ERHM BEN AFFLECK, MARC ANTHONY. THE LIST GOES ON FOR THAT J HOSE BAG,
ENUFF SAID
PEACE OUT
i can conferm that the picture on the album and single has not been air brushed like people say if you se the video like i have got myself then you will see it is all madonna
