The collab-happy, beatwise Toronto jazz combo BADBADNOTGOOD recently teamed up with the great Montreal dance producer Kaytranada on one track from Kaytranada’s recent album 99.9%. And now Kaytranada is returning the favor. BBNG are getting ready to release their new album IV, and we’ve already posted “Speaking Gently,” “Time Moves Slow” (with Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring), and “Confessions Pt. II” (with Colin Stetson). And on the album track “Lavender,” they link up once again with Kaytranada. These guys are kindred spirits, and Kaytranda’s loose-limbed take on dance makes an ideal complement to BBNG’s staggering instrumental funk. On this track, it’s like Kaytranada is just another member of the band. Listen to it below.
