Mutual Benefit – “Getting Gone” Video
Mutual Benefit’s sweeping, majestic sophomore album Skip A Sinking Stone is one of our favorites of the year so far, and today the band is sharing a video for “Getting Gone.” It’s a simple but evocative visual that superimposes forest and urban imagery against the silhouettes of bodies. “I think of this video as an attempt to visualize some sort of vague nostalgia,” Jordan Lee explains in a press release. “Where you let time do its thing until what’s left of confusing, distant memories is just a tranquil spot where the rays of the sun are shining from between the leaves in the trees.” Director Anna Powell Teeter expands: “This video reveals people’s thoughts and secrets while maintaining their anonymity. With Hugh (Sherman Donkin)’s thoughtful and detail-oriented camera work, we were able to depict these stories through a rural narrative.” Watch below.
Skip A Sinking Stone is out now via Mom+Pop. Mutual Benefit will release a limited-edition run of tapes for Cassette Store Day called Living Room Sessions featuring 4 acoustic tracks.
