Aesop Rock – “Shrunk” Video
Wordy underground vet Aesop Rock just dropped the free Lice Two: Still Buggin’ project with fellow word soup stirrer Homeboy Sandman. But today, he revisits his latest solo effort The Impossible Kid with a video for “Shrunk” by director Rob Shaw.
The real Aes meanders through an arcade spitting his tong-twisting verses while a crude, animated Aes in the style of early arcade games battles all sorts of bad guys through three levels that correspond with his three verses. In the third and final level, he fights the therapist bear from his shrink sessions in a climactic showdown. The clip has the shrewd headiness of Rock’s rhymes and it all comes together for a lighthearted spin on some heavy self-reflection. Watch.
