Herb Alpert's conceptual album about child molestationDeerhoof‘s new covers album is all over the place, but the only track I could download so far is a version of the title track from 2004′s great spazzy Milk Man. Since it was going so slow, I’m just going to throw this up on our server and try to download some of the other tracks later. It’s by Ben Grnbrg, of The Fugue, whose webpage kind of looks like the original Milk Man sounds.

(Ben Grnbrg & RIYL put up a clean copy of the mp3- thanks, guys!)

And, from The Runners Four, jazzy track 3:
Deerhoof – “Running Thoughts” (MP3 link removed)

I (very slowly) downloaded the covers album, but it seems like most of the mp3s are slightly broken. Anyone else having the same problems?

The other bands on the bill with Deerhoof are really great as well. Stars Like Fleas is first on and I don’t know how to describe it or what to say except that i will never miss another show they play. Flying is a little like Deerhoof but sweeter. Lavender Diamond is a chamber folk group with some Kill Rock Stars people (haven’t seen them but clips are really good).

  3. domingou, Ben Grnbrg’s track definitely has some encoding-based bloops on it.

  4. Yeah Jim, let’s find a cleaner copy. I love the original.

Lavender Diamond is Ron Rege Jr’s band and they’ve played with deerhoof at the echo a couple times. I’m surprised that more people are not talking about the runner’s four….. It’s definitely my favorite of the year.
