Allison Crutchfield – “I Don’t Ever Wanna Leave California” Video
Back in October, Allison Crutchfield announced the release of her debut solo album, Tourist In This Town, with a video for “Dean’s Room.” We haven’t heard much from her since (unless you count her playing the Stereogum Christmas Show), but the album comes out in a few weeks, and today she’s shared a video for another new track, “I Don’t Ever Wanna Leave California.”
The video was co-directed by Catherine Elicson and Crutchfield, and sees the musician chilling out in front of a cheap-looking ocean backdrop on top of a roof in Brooklyn. The song itself is a bitter send-off that uses staying in California as an analogy for getting out of an unhealthy relationship: “We’re pretty far away from Philadelphia and that’s fine ‘cus I’m really starting to hate you and anyways, I am looking to move,” she sings, followed up by the cutting line: “I keep confusing love and nostalgia.” Watch and listen below.
Tourist In This Town is out 1/27 via Merge Records.
