Amadou & Mariam – “Bofou Safou” Video
When listening to Amadou & Mariam’s latest single “Bofou Safou,” the only proper way to capture its essence is simple: the funk, the whole funk, and nothing but the funk. The Grammy-nominated Malian couple are returning to the scene with a new album called La Confusion — a follow-up to 2012’s Folila — and have now given the Afro-pop “Bofou Safou” the music video treatment it deserves. The song’s name derives from a nickname given to “young men who would rather dance than work,” and director Louis Vignat’s video plays on that narrative. Our protagonist sleeps all day and goes out to the club every night, and video’s retro styling makes for groovy patterns and polyester galore. You’ll get some serious Saturday Night Fever vibes when everyone starts busting out their best John Travolta disco moves. This music video is just as fun to watch as it is to listen to. Get down in a wave of absolute funky bliss by watching the video for “Bofou Safou” below.
