“I Believe In A Thing Called Love” was one of the best rock singles of 2003, so the Darkness have their work cut out for them on sophomore CD One Way Ticket to Hell… and Back, out 11/29.

The title track is streaming on MySpace, and it’s not bad. It’s no “I Believe,” and the chorus is a little Meat Loaf-y, but I have a feeling I’ll be humming it all day. At least it beats Justin Hawkins’ Sparks cover.

  1. I was going to say ‘Needs more cowbell” but honestly, I think it’s full to bursting as is.

And I would like to congratulate the Darkness on best album title ever.

  3. It doesn’t need more sitar. I can’t wait to hear “dinner lady arms.” full album tracklist over my way.

  4. The Darkness were a refreshing breath of fresh air when they came out. Can’t wait for the new album.

  5. I didn’t get it two years ago and I don’t get it now. Damn kids.

I love the first album… but this song doesn’t do it for me. Doesn’t seem like anything special.

and i would like to congratulate the darkness on being the worst band ever

After MySpace finished streaming “One Way Ticket” I had it play “Thing Called Love.” Like it or not, “Thing” sounds like a 25-year old song you somehow never heard. “One Way Ticket” sounds like every 25-year old song you heard and immediately forgot. One way ticket to dull…and back.

  9. they’re still fun.

  10. Goon  |   Posted on Oct 6th, 2005

simply put, if you dont like the Darkness, you’re not my friend.

  11. utter shite, same as their other offerings.

  12. Richard  |   Posted on Oct 7th, 2005

I think it’s wicked! Great chorus!

  13. Anon  |   Posted on Oct 7th, 2005

Anyone notice the incorrect grammar? “One way ticket to hell and back” I think that would make it a return ticket, wouldn’t it?

  14. Alex  |   Posted on Oct 8th, 2005

that’s the point you fool. it’s called irony?

  15. That’s it? That’s what took them two years to make? That’s what almost split them up? It’s just the special school version of I Believe In A Thing Called Love, isn’t it? Let’s hope the video has a big where they ‘ironically’ brown up during the sitar bit. Nice flange, mind you…

  16. allie  |   Posted on Oct 11th, 2005

To be perfectly honest, the Darkness absoulutly rock. Its called ‘glam rock’ and its the best.None of todays bands would be around if it we’rnt for the likes of queen, areosmith etc.All these people who go around on stage being either emo of facking metal heads on their powerchord songs, talking about how bad life is? how can yah say its crap when you’ve got people like Son of dork and mcfly thinking that they can play guitar! Exacatly!!,so ,to cut a long story short, it rocks, great chorus, I can imagine it live, but its a new stlye I think, some what differnet from permission to land, and I hope the other songs are as good as this one..anyway..it rocks..simple as

  33. crap there bak, i thought theyd pissd off 4 gud

  34. elizabeth  |   Posted on Oct 26th, 2005

Holy sh*t! Thank God they’ve got a new one coming out!!! One way ticket to hell is a great song. I am already trying to learn the words. Can anybody help me out? So awesome. I can’t stop loving them. They make my day…

  35. allie  |   Posted on Oct 26th, 2005

Jimmy.. man you rock the shit! this is what ive been trying to tell people for EVOR! this is the kind of band that could change music forevor!!! im so done with all those emo bands up on stage (nothin against them) these guys r jus so out of the norm and so doin their own thing.. its jus somethin new.. there r only so many times u can hear an emo band sing a song about dying.. this songs about hope.. how many bands can make hope so sound effin amazing??

  36. Enrique Gemini  |   Posted on Oct 27th, 2005

Okay. What is wrong with all you fans? Haven’t you noticed? They replaced Frankie! The bassist! They got some new guy who looks like Moby! What the hell?! WHERE IS FRANKIE?!

  37. Parker  |   Posted on Oct 27th, 2005

The Darkness cannot be touched. They are a breath of fresh air.

  38. jimmywetwipes  |   Posted on Oct 29th, 2005

  39. Penis Monkey  |   Posted on Oct 31st, 2005

a breath of fresh air…from the 1980′s…..theyre all twats and guess what like their new title…that breath of fresh air bit was ‘ironic’ now go listen to some fuckin real music or raid your moms 80′s collection and listen to every song the darkness have and will come up with ever.

    They suck salty donkey dick

As a darkling i’d have to say that the boys have done it again! One way ticket RAWKS!

  42. Mark J  |   Posted on Nov 22nd, 2005

They’re not the worst band ever, not by a long way. But what defines a great band is it’s ability to atune to the ppls desires at that point in time. Do u really think many ppl spoke out against Queen or The Jimi Hendrix experience when they burst on the scene? No? That’s why they are great and the darkness are not. I saw both the darkness and the reformed Queen w/in the space of a month, the Darkness put on a great performance, Queen did what came naturally to them, those guys live rock they don’t perform it.

  43. Jeeves Hardy  |   Posted on Oct 15th, 2008

Just out of hospital after 3 year coma!! heard that darkness tune and its still utter shite!!!

ps cheers for the handjob justin!!
