  1. duuude, maximo park!!! royksopp, interpol, etc.

and sweet, first first post ever!!!

  2. play some men, women and children, that’ll get them dancing

  3. Sorry to post again but i’m sure some mash-ups will be good, like Party Ben’s Chic+Franz+Beastie Boys mix, A+D’s DeceptaFreakOn, and DJ Matt Hite’s I like the Way You Move It (Bodyrockers vs. Reel-to-Reel). Divide & Kreate have some okay ones too, though I’m sure you know that…

Wow, thank you Stereogum, for turning me into a number one teenage yupster!

  4. Party Ben stuff is always a hit. That mash up of My Hump/Arcade Fire is good times as well. Then throw some popozao on to really wow them.

    The Futurists are good, too.
    (“Last Stand”
    http://www.myspace.com/thefuturists)

But So Many Dynamos have always been a favorite of mine.
    (“Heat Humidity”

    (not Missy Elliot)

  17. Hot Chip anything, but “Over and Over” and “Just Like We” (DFA remix)

Munk’s “Kick Out the Chairs” (with James Murphy)

Fluxblog might play “Destroy Everything You Touch” by Ladytron, but if he doesn’t, you should.

DJ Earworm’s “Just Let Go in LA”

Lady Sovereign “Hoodie” (Basement Jaxx remix)

Tones On Tail “Go!” (Club Mix)–an oldie but goodie–it’s got cowbell!

I soooooooo want to go, but cannot due to my being a few hundred miles away. Can you guys (or someone else) do a recording of the show? I hope, at least, you’ll give a tracklisting after your done.

  18. I’d say Morningwood but Flux has that covered, hehehe.

    Maybe Ladytron?

  19. Rich  |   Posted on Jan 10th, 2006

Sounds like this may be an early round in the inevitable Morningwood-WAS war of ’06.

  23. flockflockflockflock  |   Posted on Jan 10th, 2006

Lightning Bolt – The Faire Folk

  24. Sean  |   Posted on Jan 10th, 2006

  28. The Books are still cool, right?

  29. also, I have this overwhelming desire to make this ground zero in the zz top comeback, but I don’t have digital copies of their mind-blowing old stuff

  30. Peck  |   Posted on Jan 10th, 2006

Has the backlash against The Go! Team ended yet? Oh well, play it anyway. Any Handsomeboy Technique, Raveonettes, Belle and Sebastian, Futureheads, New Pornographers, that will all go down good.

  31. Sir Nut A-Lot  |   Posted on Jan 10th, 2006

awesome new republic – wheels, no engines*
    hot chip
and Snowden – Time Of The Season

*in order to pull this song off properly you have to know how to beatmatch/mix… for the dancey part is only 50 seconds long but totally worth it!

  39. Here’s a couple that work and might not be thought of in a dance situation…

*SiA “Breathe Me (Mylo Mix)” You wouldn’t think this song could be danceable, but somehow Mylo does it.
*The Flaming Lips “The W.A.N.D.” new single released today (digital only)

Some other recent hip-hop fallbacks that never fail to both get the dancefloor moving and also surprise enough folks:
    *The Perceptionists – “Career Finders”
*Danger Mouse “Old School” [We'll be back right after these messages / boys grab your nutsack girls grab you breasteses.]
    And required:
    *Lyrics Born “Calling Out (Remix)”

    “roses” – Who Made Who

    shake it.

  42. hot shit  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

p.s. the only mash up worth playing is “got it twisted sister (the rapture vs. mobb deep)” by Dopplebanger

  43. richard  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

people alway play New Order “Blue Monday” – which is a great song but everyone forgets about the dance tracks on Technique…”Fine Time” and “Round and Round” are great for the dancefloor.

  44. martha  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

MY HUMP. Sure, it’s awful, but it’ll make the kids shake their sh*t.

  45. Norah  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

    Mandarin Girl_Bookashade

GET PHYSICAL label releases, if you have any!

  46. martha  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

you can’t go wrong w/ Ike and Tina. And some M.I.A. (hombre?). And White Lines. You gotta have that.

  47. janine  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

I’ve seen Matthew DJ before. His weakness is treble. He plays great songs but doesn’t pay enough attention to sound. All that treble can be mad annoying at high volumes.

  48. Oh man I wish I lived in NYC.

We went to L&L once but were dramatically jetlegged and weighed down from the cool Mexican down the road.

  49. tom, I live in Canada. uh  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

hey Scott…thought i would give ya a few candidates,….Datarock- Computer Camp Love…Hall & Oats – I can’t go for That…….Scenario Rock- Skitzo Dancer….Kenny Loggins – Your the Best (Karate Kid Soundtrack)….Electric Six-Future is the Future…Doobie Brothers-What a Fool Believes…..That new Madonna Track….and all those hip remixes that are so hot right now, Yeah!….don’t forget that one key track from the eighties….make it clean and smooth….ooohh so smooth…yah that Hot Shit guy has got the right idea, I love Erlend….I wish I could make it, but i’ll be busy being cold and watching a bad Maritime band. Hey, Holy Fuck will be here on Friday! small towns fun bands! Good luck, your blog is fun.

  50. Oh No  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

    I second calls for:

    MIA
    Junior Senior
    Electric Six
    Spoon

  51. weirdedout  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

    wow.

i think it’s funny that stereogum ask for suggestions for music, and then people give them the same exact shit they’ve been promoting for the past year.

    weird.

  52. bananas  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

    Yaz/Goodbye Seventies, Totally Radd/Dressed Up,
Ima Robot/Dynomite, Seelenluft/Manila (on Ladytron’s Softcore Jukebox. You won’t regret it.)

  53. In fairness, it’s not always really my fault re: treble!

  54. janine  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

Also in your defense, I only saw you DJ once. So it might have been some sort of one-off sound situation.

  55. the lady in red.

  56. i’ll agree with chris on three 6 mafia’s “Stay Fly”. you can’t lose with that track.

  57. that new Johnny Boy

  58. Burton  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

I have to second Three 6 Mafia, as dirty as I feel. That shit’s hot.

  59. One of the nice things about this night is that we all get to soundcheck and make sure we know what our levels should be before we start. I’m used to things being a lot more slapdash.

    I’m definitely playing Johnny Boy!

  60. emily  |   Posted on Jan 11th, 2006

soulwax’s remix album nite versions is seriously good

  61. I second She Wants Revenge, heard it yesterday and I adore “Tear You Apart”

  62. Some songs that I personally dance to in the privacy of my own home:

    Basement Jaxx/Dizzee Rascal “Lucky Star”
    Lady Sovereign “Random”
    Sugababes “Push the Button”

  63. katykat  |   Posted on Jan 16th, 2006
