Earlier this week, Page Six ran a story about Axl Rose bartering entrance to the Stereo nightclub after closing (at 5:30 AM) so he could continue his 44th birthday bash. His offer? A listening party for the COMPLETED Chinese Democracy which he’d been working on for the last nine years.
Difficult to get excited about that, since Axl once claimed the album would be out in 1998 (and every year since then) but tracks are leaking. So this is the real deal. All we needed was just a little patience [cue whistling].
After trying a handful of producers over the last decade (including Roy Thomas Baker, Bob Ezrin, Sean Beavan, and our favorite village vegan Moby) ultimately the album will be Axl-produced.
As far as we understand, this is the current band:
Buckethead was of course the most interesting thing to happen to Project Democracy in years, but he quit in early ’04. [Sidenote: a man with a KFC bucket on his head will be the most interesting thing to happen to most projects; try it at the office sometime.]

Does anyone have the uncut “better” mp3? It was out only for a couple of minutes today.
I can not believe that some of you are defending this rancid piece of horse fececs that is “Chinese Democracy”. This barely even classifies as music. Axl rose is such a big douche that he has to desimate the name of Guns and Roses by attatching it to this musical abortion. Axl may as well have farted in a microphone and called it an album. He doesn’t even sing anything like he used to. I liked Axl a lot better when he went MIA for 8 years and everyone thought he was dead with a needle in his arm. I am a huge guns and roses fan, but this is in no way a guns and roses album. I only hope that all of this is smoke and mirrors and the old lineup is really back together waiting to put out a true guns album.

Do you honestly think that if slash, izzy, and duff were still in the band that the music would sound anything like that? There ain’t no way. Not one of these new songs holds a candle to anything they did, this shouldn’t be called guns and roses, it should be called “Axel Rose Wants Money” I think some of you are just so excited to hear anything, that your making yourselves believe that this new stuff isn’t the most horrible thing you’ve ever heard. I havnt heard any of these recent leaks but I have heard some of the older performances from 2002. I think they sound great. In fact they sound so great that I have just spent £150 (about $250) on getting tickets for the Dublin concert this summer….That is the easy part, now I have to wait and see if they turn up.

Look all you doubters… yes axl shudnt keep the GNR name on this band as it is quite blatenetly NOT GNR. but there aint no question that this is guna b a great album… it jus might sound a bit dated but who gives a f*ck! The currentmusic scene needs some good old thrash metal to liven up all the emo stuff thats about!! (which i like also)
What’s weird is that I never heard so many songs where only a portion was good but the rest of the track sucks. I almost sounds as if Axl really tried as hard as he could to write a good song, then a minute or two into it the song always just trails into some lame ass filler material just so he can get 3 or four minutes out of it. In some tracks the filler is more at the beginning and some tracks it just sounds like it’s more at the end.
I’m hardpressed to say that I totally enjoyed a complete song. “The Blues” is the clear Cut Hit here. The rest of the tracks seem like pieced together cutting room material from the 80′s. The only thing that will sell this CD is if they release a kick ass song first so that everyone thinks the rest of the CD is that good! Unfortunately there are going to be lots of dissapointed people once they hear the rest of this crap.

If you think that you can judge the quality of an album from a couple of dodgy leaks, then its like me saying that I know everything about all of you just from what you have written on this site. I dont think it is a true representation of what is happening. The way I see it is that all of this hype around Chinese democracy is free marketing for the album. GnR dont need to spend any money on it. I think that someone of Axl’s experience can easily handle the hype of the album….. Remember, he was platinum when most of you were just an itch in your daddy’s pants.

Wow. I can’t even begin to tell the story of why I have and always will dislike Guns N’ Roses. But trust me, it’s pretty damn legitimate.
Anyways, I refuse to believe that whatever this new album sounds like; it will certainly not have been worth the wait. If it took me 10+ years to write an album, I figure it better either be the best damn CD ever, or it better be a catalyst for world peace. And neither of those are going to happen from this release. I don’t care what the title is, or how many demos Axl’s made, or if yor best friends mom has a cousin that once slept with Mr. Rose. None of that is relevant.
What is relevant, is that Axl’s spent these past years laughing it up. He sees the hype, he might come up with a couple crappy riffs a day, and choke on his lover’s phallus before he goes to bed. He’s one of the biggest has-been’s in the history of music, and even he realizes that. But he planted the seed in the media that stated he’s going to make a new album oh-so-many years ago, and people are still shitting their brains out over it. Axl Rose could take a dump in a jewel case, call it “Chinese Democracy” and people would still buy it.
The album is gonna sell alright. But it won’t be good. Not for as long as the wait for it has been.

These files aren’t the best of quality. I’ll admit that fact. But, don’t judge the album when you guys haven’t even listened to it yet. These songs are decent. I’m just glad we have a chance to here GnR after so much time. People that have listened to GnR in the past will enjoy the fact that axl is still writing music. I grew up listening to GnR, and it just kills me to see how people can just turn their backs so quickly because of a few songs. Ironic as this might be, as jason posted on March 3rd, all of you people that are saying that this album is crap, are actually the people that will be praising this album when the media gets a hold of it. Ok, I’ve listened over and over to all leaked tracks and previously played live versions and I can honestly say that they’re definately worth listening to. After 3 or 4 listens, the various layers become evident and we can hear how professionally complex these recordings are and they’re kick ass tunes. When we’ve all gotten over the fact that our original GNR heroes aren’t with Axl anymore we might give these new musicians and Axl a bit of credit. Not everyone is gonna immediately like this but to deny yourself the pleasure of letting these tracks burn into your brain would be unfortunate. I’m looking forward to hearing the whole album, I guarantee Axl’s gonna kick ass this year. Welcome back ya motherfucker!

“Crash Diet” sound like old-school GNR. It´s a pretty good song. If the album has more songs with a similar quality to this song, I think it will be very good. I´m really considering to buying it.

Had to respond to this above, even though you’ll never see it. You are a moron. The Stooges were the shit, but to compare Iggy to Axl is just absurd. And kick Axl out of the band? Are you fucking gone? He is one of the best songwriters of all fucking time, and if you disagree you are stupid and wrong. When did people start thinking that Izzy was the balls of GNR. He was the fucking rythym guitarist! Axl writes almost all of the songs and lyrics and Izzy writes some. Its no secret, look it up. As much as I like Izzy, his songs are by far the weakest of all the songs by guns. And as far as bashing the Illusions, its tough to live up to improving upon appetite. The change in style is actually called progression, your just too stupid to understand that. They were not trying to recreate something they had already done before. If you honestly think the Illusions albums were bad, I’m afraid to hear what you think is good. Do yourself a favor and don’t even listen to music, because you have no idea what good music is.

I’ve heard a fair few tracks, I don’t care what anyone says, since i was 6 years old (that’s a fucking long time, i’m almost 23) i’ve loved GnR and particularly axl’s unique voice, he may not be the most reliable person and granted now he’s not as able as he used to be, but fuck it, another guns n roses record is just what the world needs. and then many fuckin’ more, although it’s not the same and never will replace an amazing line-up (circa 1992) at least it’s something to show that the GNR name will NEVER die!

i personally cant wait for this album to come out. im only 16, and ive gotten into guns n roses over the past year. ive read everything about the chinese democracy CD, and i cant wait. rumoured date is the 21st of november…ill be at a local best buy at opening time for that one.
and for the people that think axl sounds like crap now…well thats just your opinion. if u ask me, i say right now he sounds better than he ever has. in 2000-2002 he kinda fell of a little bit, but hes doing great in 2006. and i like the new look…once again 2002s look was bad for him.
even though ive already heard most of the rumoured songs, im gunna get the album when it comes out. and ive been reading all these posts and seeing everyone ask where they could find certain MP3s of songs….its called Limewire…n00bs.
