Nick & Norah’s has a noteworthy playlist, but few songs on the OST get the in-film spotlight that does the Real Tuesday Weld’s 2007 single “Last Words.” Stephin Merritt would approve. Maybe now more people will check in with TRTW mastermind Stephen Coates’s self-proclaimed “antique beat” stylings, which tend to blend good prose with old timey sounds (lots of Tin Pan Alley era stuff), vintage instrumentation, and subtle electronica. This video for “Bringing The Body Back Home” has all that, while adding a Tim Burton-esque vibe to the track’s crackling-vinyl waltz, which is just what happens when your video stars a cadre of misfit toy pallbearers.

The track comes from TRTW’s 2007 release The London Book Of The Dead, which is available on Six Degrees Records. For more, have a listen to “Over The Hillsides” from this year’s Real Tuesday release At The End Of The World.
