Baltimore duo Wye Oak have given us the swirling, multi-layered “Warning” along with “I Don’t Feel Young” — in both unplugged and QYDJ forms. Here, we get a look and listen at another If Children track, “Please Concrete,” via its Caleb Stine and Eric Diga-directed video. In the clip, a little girl wanders her dull neighborhood (and its Where The Sidewalk Ends cracking sidewalk), stumbling upon creepy TVs and various monitors littering the landscape — these work almost as mirrors, but the images she sees of herself are brighter than her everyday. In a fittingly Hitchcockian move, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack appear, though it’s the kid who knows when it’s time to turn off the boob tube and engage her surroundings.

This record is fantastic. I’m listening to it right now for the first time and I want to go on record saying it is really a terrific set of songs. I normally don’t go for this balladeer folk/pop indie thing that’s really big right now, but Wye Oak and the Dodos really stand out. “Family Glue” and “Regret” are really great. Really refreshing Simon & Garfunkel-esque vibe.
gotta love them bmore bands
