Vice knows you can’t keep something so awesome under wraps, so that great new Streets song is being offered as a free download:

Stereogum knows you’ve heard it already, so here’s another cut to whet your appetite.
The Streets – “Two Nations” (MP3 Link Expired)

The Hardest Way To Make an Easy Living? When MP3 blogs leak your shit presumably. But it’s OK, Mikey and I are buds: just roaching a spliff, watching the TV, and that.

The Streets do not suck unless you’re an elitist indie faggot face.

They’re a fun band. Accessible doesn’t equal atrocious.

Yeah but guys, I mean, making a record about doing too much coke and buying too many polo shirts – that’s kinda lame? I’ve listened to the record a few times now and other than the single, there really isn’t a decent beat on it. The punchlines are pretty flat. As Neil Young said, ‘Please take my advice and open up your tired eyes, Mike’. Okay, he wasn’t saying it to Mike but it applies, y’know. First Streets record is genius – the last two – only really cool if you ARE an elitist indie faggot actually. It’s the kind of unlistenable, tuneless shite loved by elitist indie faggots.

A Grand Don’t Come for Free was an amazing album. I have no idea how someone could say that it’s “unlistenable.” The production on the new album is pretty damn good and Hardest Way… is just a natural progression in Skinner’s music. Just because it didn’t get a 9 on Pitchfork doesn’t mean it’s not a solid record.

  9. Damn these guy suck. I will be the first to admit that I am a music snob, but that has nothing to do with this. i have given this guy many chances and I have heard nothing worth anything. I just don’t get it I guess. The beats are weak, the guy has no flow. Even Eminem whose flow is a bit awkward had something unique. This guys just fucking talks over some beats he made on a casio keyboard. Seriously, tell me why this guys is any good? I would listen if there was something i am maybe missing. Is it satire? He seems pretty serious to me. What a tool.

Skinner’s DIY beats and lyrics are sincere, poignant and often quite funny. Not every song is a hit, but the albums stand up for themselves. I’ve greatly enjoyed listening to the progression from Original Pirate Material to Hardest Way. The Streets keeps changing, experimenting with new sounds and production and I’m listening eagerly.
