Surprise, harmonies are involved. The ascendant Sub Pop folk-makers came through NYC this weekend for the so many-eth time, playing two sold out nights at midtown’s Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom and offering a some new sounds. If you’ve heard Fleet Foxes then you’ll know what to expect from the recently unveiled and sweeping “Silver City,” although if you’ve seen Fleet Foxes you won’t expect to see Robin standing and with an electric. They are evolving.

In other Fleet news, the temporarily disabled “He Doesn’t Know Why” vid is back up.

here’s an mp3 if anyone wants. they played this in LA a couple weeks ago too. great song.

  2. they are a more evolved band now then they were in july at bowery. more confident, tighter, just better. the new song is definitely ockier. yay riffs!

A nice meld of their self-released on their Sub Pop stuff. Also, nice to see that Robin and Skye could afford new guitars with all the money they’ve been making.

  4. Great show!
The onstage banter was better than Tegan & Sara’s banter the next night at Terminal 5.

meh i disagree on the banter, tegan and sara were pretty fucking funny, but fleet foxes was super tight that night. they put on an awesome show.

am I the only one that doesn’t think this band is all that?

It’s nice and all, but I just dont’ find it very interesting or memorable

Yeah, they played this in Athens. They said that they weren’t done with it, yet, and that we shouldn’t expect much. However, I think it’s pretty “rad,” as Robin kept saying that night.

is FF our own beautiful version of Sigur Ros? our new national music example? everyone there is almost still and rapt like a Sigur Ros audience

    They’re just absolutel incredible.

  9. If you could please attribute that vid to my blog, I’d very much appreciate it. It took time for me to match up my bootleg to that video I shot.

this band just blew my mind. I saw them in Boston and they are just as good as everyone said they were. I also didn’t realize they would be as funny as they were. It looks like they wear the exact same clothes every night too. Rad.

The band SPECIFICALLY asked people not to record this track and post it. What does this make you?
