Cat Power and Olivier Alary have collaborated on a lugubrious piece of orchestral folk for the new Ensemble single (Chan co-wrote and provides vocals). It’s called “Disown, Delete,” and if you come by the CD single, pick it up as there are two even more beautiful songs on it (plus a “Disown” remix by Tim Hecker). Ensemble’s full length FatCat debut is out 9/19 and features a cameo by Lou Barlow too.

Oh, and Chan’s sober. She made sure to mention it at the end of her Bonnaroo set.

saw her live 2 weeks ago at the 9 30 club in dc. the only thing was, the memphis band (something like that) overwhlemed her. I was hoping for a more intimate set. not much guitar. a lot of piano. still a great show, though. chan is amazing.
