Yellow House is going to be one of your favorite albums of the year. Grizzly Bear’s new one delivers heart-tugging folk via endlessly inventine off-kilter arrangements. Friday was an unfortunate night for the boys to hit the Bowery (they competed with Futureheads, Walkmen, and the seemingly untouchable TV On The Radio) — but we were pleasantly surpised to see our local Ballroom completely empty at 11 PM. Of course it filled out by the time the band took the stage for a late-night set.
From the haunted doo-wop of “Knife” to the nervous folk suite “On A Neck,” live Yellow left the crowd hungry for more. (Ed, next time we wanna hear “Little Brother”!)

Headliners and Stereogum Band To Watch Lansing-Dreiden were plagued by sound issues and a tired audience that gradually vanished during the performance. We’re willing to consider it was an off night. Still love the ’80s-tastic “A Line You Can Cross.” (Video: MOV | WMV)
Elsewhere, La Blogotheque filmed Grizzly performing “Knife” a capella on the streets of Paris:
So much better than a capella Sufjan. If the whole Warp thing doesn’t pan out, GBear’s got a future as a barbershop quartet.
Buy Yellow House 9/4.

i absolutely loved that evening despite the lansing let down. I actually was surprised how many people there were there considering the competition
awesome set and the knife song i’ve heard is pretty cool
First time I had seen them since early days of the first record…absolutely brilliant. i was delightfully mauled by the bear.

has this fully leaked? if so can someone YSI or link me to where I could get it?
man, i wish i could’ve gone. i was hoping maybe you’d say more about the show. but that’s alright. the pictures are good enough. and all you reaaaaally have to say has been said: “Yellow House is going to be one of your favorite albums of the year.” definately number one for me. i love grizzly bear
The show was amazing, as usual. I basically only support friend’s bands which I actually like, which enthusiastically includes these boys. I used to promise i would come out to see the shows and then never make it, but now I will be a constant supporter. I was pleased to see I wasn’t the only one. UNSUBTLE GRIZZLY LOVE FOR ALL. http://grizzly-bear.net/
yellow house is a killer
watch yr back
the show was just amazing. yellow house is gorgeous. 2006 is the year of the grizzly bear! (L-D were not happening that night.)
the show was so great…those boys are so cute. i wish ld was better…i want to hear the record in its entirety live. i think that would make me melt.
It’s already my favorite album of the year. Horn of Plenty was amazing and Yellow House is a flawless sophomore record. Beautiful, epic, rich, can’t stop talking about it to everyone who will listen.
that show killed!
and what about the video in the green shower? it’s even better than this one. i love the light and the different zoom in it. and the voices.. the voices.. it’s delightful!
the crowd filled in after 11 bc thats around when tvotr finished. they cooridnated the two shows so ppl could see both tvotr and l-d, but grizzly bear didnt go on until 11 either? ohh man! i wouldve liked to see them and tvotr, now u tell me it was possible, i hate you!
i got the whole album. it’s really really much better than Horn of plenty which was nice. but not like this. obviously the new members are key and , i’d guess crucial to the sudden omnipresencse of this band online
poor lansing dreiden
That capella version was pretty damn good, too bad about the quality. Can’t wait for the album.

> i cant believe you hated on a capella
> sufjan. that was prettty impressive.
It was cute, but the terrible video quality made me nauseous.
oh my god, that a capella was amazing.
totally bummed that i missed the grizzly bear show but the new album is incredible. so intensely rich. it’ll blow your mind.
that a capella version is amazing. and they are so fucking cute.
i can’t stop watching that video. it made me cry! so gorgeous
Question – -
Are TVONR the most over-rated band ever? I mean ever.
Seriously, they are bad.
the live show is where these guys really found their sound. all the grandness and luminosity in on a neck and knife is the product of gb the stage act. they did a good job getting that all into the recordings, but it is still a bit controlled. if you ever get the chance to see them live jump at it–they’ll make it worth your while.
