According to the press release, this track finds André and Big Boi sharing vocal duties for the first time in six years. ??? Anyway, we like. It’s from the duo’s forthcoming album Idlewild out 8/22. Three days later Universal/HBO releases the Idlewild motion picture, the first movie in which Dré and Boi act together! Then they’re gonna break up ’cause they hate each other.

  1. On first listen, not hearing much new here.

Maybe it’s time to give it a rest anyways.

Figured they could do a little better together after this long a wait.

  2. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 2 songs on Speakerboxxx/The Love Below that had them sharing vocals — “Ghetto Muzik” and “Roses”.

    Just sayin’.

yeah, at least two songs…maybe four.

  4. this song sucks. didn’t it drop like a month and a half ago and nobody on radio picked it up?

in some interview, andre said he didn’t like the song at all but the label was pushing for a rap featuring the two of them together so they just pushed it out.

“in some interview, andre said he didn’t like the song at all but the label was pushing for a rap featuring the two of them together so they just pushed it out.”

    Assuming that’s true…

Dear Outkast’s Label: Please let Andre and Big Boi do whatever they want, and just put it out without interfering. When they do what they want, they almost inerrantly produce something _totally awesome_. This song, unlike the other two I’ve heard from “Idlewild” is mediocre.

    Signed,
    Alex

  7. What’s with the move to streaming audio rather than MP3s?

  8. Am I the only one who kinda likes this song?

They probably meant it’s their first album in 6 on which they both rap.

    Cab Calloway is a gangsta.

  10. Yeah I heard this song like two months ago, once, and never heard it again. It’s not bad, sounds a little generic for them, or at least for Andre.

  11. I like this well enough. It’s got a sort of measured and deliberate tempo to it… Outkast seems to have more impact when they jack the BPMs up a little. Even so, the production and rhyme deilvery are kinda quirky and enjoyable. This seems like a solid album track to me, but if this is the single, they probably could have done better.

i like that song. i’ll buy this album. you gotta give outkast a chance.

  13. That song was pretty whack. Not only is not a good song for them, it’s just not a good song.

I agree, Joey. They need speed it up. Throw some ghetto musik in there.

Mighty O wasn’t as good as Idlewild Blues or Morris Mother Fucking Brown.

And twenty million people in the world missed this, but Big Boi did make an appearance on “Hey Ya”. You can hear him make his special part somewhat during the bridge of that song.

Heard they were getting set to release two other tracks as singles instead of this one, due to the fact that it never caught on. Either “idlewild blues” or “morris brown.”
