The National’s meaner Boxer followup, officially titled High Violet, comes out 5/11 via 4AD. You’ll probably catch some of the new songs on their spring tour. Remember, in case you were curious, “it can’t be described as happy.” Look at photos of the guys recording it at highviolet.com.

Judging by the site design, they’re taking the title very seriously.
Not that I want to pass judgment based off of iPhone clips, but the ones posted on that site are intriguing.
no doubt album of the year…wait, this is only like 1 of 10 incredible albums coming out this year…broken social scene, band of horses, new pornographers, belle and sebastian, band of horses, hold steady, arcade fire, the strokes, the black keys, and RADIOHEAD, not to mention too many more (beach house, broken bells, spoon, vampire weekend, los campesinos!) whoa, great time to be a music fan.

concur – poised to be album of the year, and i vote Boxer as Album of the Decade, 2000-09. Pavevent/National in Paris should be quite the gig, can’t wait.
