Mark Oliver Everett’s father was Hugh Everett, the physicist who pioneered the many-worlds theory before dying of a heart attack at 51. Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives, airing tomorrow on PBS, is a documentary focusing on Hugh, “so devastated by the scientists’ dismissal and scorn of his work … that he withdrew almost entirely into his own mind.” E provided songs for/appears in the film. His discussion about it with the NY Times is also illuminating about his own trajectory.

This is a BBC documentary and was shown in full before Eels shows last autumn. I saw it at the Washington DC show at 6th & I Synagogue. It’s a great documentary – very interesting.
very interesting documentary, definitely worth watching.
Great documentary. Made me have even more respect for E, which I didn’t think was possible after the greatness that was Blinking Lights.
