This past weekend Band of Horses’ Benjamin Bridwell told the NY Times what’s rocking his iPod these days: Dr. Dog, Chad VanGaalen, Grandaddy, Chamillionaire, Ghostface Killah, and Stereogum faves DeVotchKa.

We?ve been listening to Curse Your Little Heart on tour constantly. … The singing is so good and bizarre, but it?s attention grabbing. Sometimes that kind of stuff can take a while to warm up to, but we took right to it. It almost feels like you?ve heard the songs before.

(Psst … Ben, it’s a covers album.)

No matter, we’re all for DeVotchKa shoutouts. Stereogum saw ‘em live two times last month.

The gypsy rockers are about to reach the masses with Jonathon Dayton & Valerie Faris’ Little Miss Sunshine. DeVotchKa scored the film.

Today Stereogum presents the premiere of the band’s Sunshiney video for “‘Til The End Of Time.” I attempted multiple times (on multiple computers) to upload to YouTube, but the audio/video was not synched. Does that ever happen to anyone? What causes that?

So here’s the QT deeplink.

Since it’s a road trip movie, Fox Searchlight is doing a screening at the Vineland Drive-In tomorrow. If you come in a VW bus you get a $500 gas card!

Little Miss Sunshine hits theaters on Wednesday.

I friggin’ love this band … though it’s too bad that this clip looks like a promotional video for the Sears Portrait Studio. They don’t deserve such a flat visual treatment. Where are the aerial dancers? The tuba festooned with Christmas lights? The throng of burlesque accordion players?? Seriously, see them live if you get a chance …

  2. i heart devotchka

  3. See this movie. It’s good.

Saw DeVotchKa Friday and they kicked ass. Seriously one of the best shows I have ever seen.

Oh, and the movie looks good, too.

  5. I Have been In love with this Band since right before the release Of How it ends. Since then, I have seen them around thirty Times. Though The Oracle Dancers and The Lights On Jeanie’s Sousaphone are added perks. Their absence will never take away from the aww of a Live show. Devotchka Will always Be the BEST show I have ever seen. And I will die believing that. I cant Believe How exciting It is to finally see them getting the recognition they So much deserve.
See them live When Ever you possably can, and support them as well. And they will surely go down in history as the best Band that ever lived!
    Forever Faithful,
    Bunny

  6. stereogum’s original post (linked above) was what got me into devotchka. i went and got their records (amazon marketplace is tha bomb for US imports) and I LOVE THEM!
please, alt america make them huge, so that they get over here to the UK and play for me!
    Proper goodness, geezer.

  7. I don’t know what causes that audio/video glitch either. it’s kinda frustrating. if you find out, please shoot me an e-mail and let me know. perhaps we should google it. i’m sure someone has figured it out.

cool video and all, and the movie looks like it will be fun, BUT nothing in there conveys how astounding DeVotchKa actually is. I saw them Saturday at the Wicker Park fest and even with the show cut short because all the previous bands were running behind (which sucks by the way) they swept everyone in the crowd completely off their collective feet. You cannot see this band live and not love them. Impossible.

I love Devotchka with all my heart, but the video makes me mad – I now know basically the whole plot of the movie without having seen it yet. That’s pretty frustrating considering I was really looking forward to seeing it. If you want to see Little Miss Sunshine with as few spoilers as possible, wait to watch this video until *after* the movie.

I couldn’t agree with you more Bunny! This is the best band it the world, and if you haven’t heard em by now, you gotta check them out! And DEFINITELY have to catch a live show. Who would believe that such an incredible band could actually be even better live? I’m very excited that they may finally get out to the masses now with this movie!
