Liars - "Proud Evolution (Thom Yorke 500qd Remix)"

A couple days ago we heard Devendra Banhart inhabit Liars’ excellent “The Overachievers,” reversing the frequency of the opposites attract/urban cynic vs. L.A. hippie love song for the deluxe edition of Sisterworld’s Reinterpretations disc. Various able-minded individuals also helped build the “reinterpretation” collection’s intriguing tracklist, but Radiohead fanatics have inevitably zeroed in on Thom Yorke’s contribution. Worth the wait? Yorke’s remix isn’t as thorough an overhaul as Banhart’s “redo,” but without looking at the tags, it’s clear it’s “Proud Evolution (Thom Yorke 500qd Remix),” even if you didn’t hear that chilly, Kraut-y Boomkat-fueled drum and bass/dubstep DJ Set on Radio 1. Count the layers of the shuffling, percussive electronics engulfing Angus Andrew & Co’s chilly, droning, differently percussive original at Blip.fm.

  1. I love this.

  2. Original MP3 removed already :(

    • Scratch that! It’s working now! Blip is a bit temperamental from time to time.

PS: It’s not difficult to “catch” the source mp3… shhhhh.

  3. Should I even bother mentioning that Thom Yorke is a genius? Because everybody knows this already. For a while I’ve been wondering if we’re gonna be seeing a new Thom Yorke solo record before we see a new Radiohead record.
