It’s fun anytime Vampire Weekend plays late night TV, if only because we know it means you guys are going to get lively in the comments. And because it’s a band we enjoy playing late night TV. But after last weekend’s killer “Giving Up The Gun” dudes had little to prove by way of late night TV performances, maybe reflected in their choice of song for Fallon on Friday night where they tossed-off a take on their breezy third-wave ska racer “Holiday,” most notable for Rostam’s sick mohawk. For Fallon it was just the icing on a month that’s seen him book everyone from Neon Indian to Joanna Newsom to the National, suggesting this list might see a lot more of his name come year-end 2010. Have a look:

  1. God I hate those hipster kids in the background as much as this horrible band.

  2. Is it trendy to like them, or not like them? I can’t tell anymore. I think they are one of the strongest, most original bands out there today. Both albums are solid, and enjoyable start to finish.

    • They are very good. I genuinely love both of their albums. I can’t agree on most original though… They’ve got a sound unlike plenty of bands out there today, but I think it’s fair to say they’re doing the Paul Simon thing. I mean White Sky sounds a LOT like Crazy Love.

But, I totally agree with what I think you’re saying, which is that they get a lot of undue hate because of their… image, I guess?

I earnestly don’t understand where it comes from.

  3. Saw them in Calgary last monday. Show was extremely boring, lots of pre-recorded instrumentals and very lackluster stage presence.
