Last night Art Alexakis visited Fox News to defend the Everclear music video no one’s watching. I’m not impressed by either version of “Hater.” But after watching this O’Reilly Factor clip, I’m tempted to stand behind anything Bill hates. Then again, Alexakis sounds a little drunk.

The last shot Art got off about suits was pretty sweet.
while i generally agree with o’reilly on most things, here he’s only giving alexakis what he wants (based on grandios attempted shock value rather than his ability to write good songs).

Actually, I think the whole thing would have been avoided if this funny, but poorly executed, video hadn’t been loaded with the term “Hater Jesus” but “Hater messiah” instead – thus he’s not Jesus, but the messiah of haters – more or less an inverse of Jesus (whatever that is). Also, how can you even joke about siding with the king of the faulty arguement – I couldn’t even understand what his point was, except that he wanted his viewers to know he was angry at Art.
P.S. – Art didn’t appear drunk – he just acted like he was from the West Coast.

This is clearly set up the way that nearly all O’Reilly interviews are set up. Who watches O’Reilly that doesn’t agree with him wholeheartedly? Not many people. The guy was painted as a blasphemous, liberal crack pot who spout unproven facts and statistics out of his ass, and O’Reilly actually appeared somewhat levelheaded, a miraculous feat in and of itself. In conclusion: fuck ‘em both.

I agree with most of what O’Reilly believes, but I find him incredibly rude and condescending. Nonetheless, that guy was wasted out of his mind, and it does say a little something about how worthwhile his point of view is that he can’t stay sober for a nationally televised interview discussing it.

Funny thing is, I used to love Everclear about 15 years ago *cringe* but now I’m afraid to say that they are irrelevant… and Art is frightened by his complete lack of significance and the fact that his intellect will not allow him to pursue bigger stages. He must have thought that politics and risque art were his new avenue to attention, but instead his interview and video are foolish. It is all accentuated by how he tries to give O’Reilly a hard time about who is wearing the crown of thorns, etc… sounds like a third-grader trying to look cool by giving his teacher a hard time. Quite sad.

I think I understand what Art is trying to say about the video but he just doesn’t do a very good job of explaining it. It seems to me like the video is about people who claim to be big Christians but end up not really following their religion. It’s like 50 Cent talking about how much of a Christian he is while he’s blowing the smoke away from the end of his gun. There are many crazy extremist Christian groups like this in the States as well. Maybe Art doesn’t realized that though I don’t know, cause as he says, he didn’t write the thing.

I’m a big Everclear fan and I think Art stated his case a lot better than most would. O’Reilly tends to talk over people no matter what; he doesn’t really care who the guest is or their importance in the world. It could be Bush up there and he’d still be an asshole.
I like the video, but then again I’ve got an issue with organized religion in general. Most people didn’t get the idea behind the video: it’s a stab at the kind of Christians who swindle millions of dollars out of people. The band wasn’t trying to make fun of Jesus or religion in general.
A lot of people think they made the video like that for the controversy, so they’d get attention for their new album. I think the guy that wrote it did a good job and Art liked it, so he used it.
