    1. Too bad this in Vegas…sounds pretty great!

    2. Wait a second… Too bad this is in Vegas?!? Why would you say that? I don’t have a gambling problem, I swear.

For the most part, that is a fucking terrible lineup! Is Stereogum becoming a hippy?

    5. dude, I dare you to wear your new Tom Petty t-shirt ot this…

i went last year and had a damn fine time. i managed to skip all of the jam-band stuff on the big stages and just hung out at two of the smaller stages. saw sleater-kinney, spoon, devendra banhart, decemberists, beck, the flaming lips, the shins, and arcade fire…and, just to complete a high-school dream of mine, the dave matthews band. there were also some amazing hip-hop acts that performed as well (though i didn’t get to see any of them, unfortunately). what an awesome couple of days. oh, and the weather in vegas in october is perfection.

unfortunately, it looks as though this year’s lineup doesn’t really do last year’s promising indie-inclinations justice… the zutons? really?

what’s with all the coachella hate on this blog?

    8. Sometimes I don’t understand all the displeasure with “hippie” and/or “jambands”. Not all jamband fans wear patchouli or indulge in mind bending drugs just because….some (like me) go just for music.

Really…it seems most uber indie “experts” will stand in line for an hour to see the blogosphere’s newest darlings who may or may not have actually played a show before. Why not give the same benefit of doubt to a jamband?

Have any of you that are hating on jambands playing vegoose…i.e.- widespread, yonder, galactic, keller williams…actually gave them the same chance they give “the next arcade fire”? If you haven’t, might want to clue in on such artists like Stanton Moore of Galactic – the most insane drummer – or freak of nature Keller Williams. Probably the best set will come from MMW w/ special guest MACEO PARKER.

I would skip Rhythm Devils though….

ewwww. Who came up with that lineup?

    10. I won’t accuse anybody of being a patchouli wearing hippie, but there are a lot of boring, meandering bands on this lineup.

    11. interesting…i was already planning to be in vegas that weekend. may have to check it out.

In my experience jambands often put on the best live shows. Or at least that’s my opinion… I’m gonna get attacked aren’t I

Hopefully that means more GOOD bands are coming to the Voodoo Fest, which occurs during this festival.

Broken Social Scene and the Flaming Lips for the win!

I went last year and it was awesome. This lineup looks considerably weaker though at this point.

    15. Yeah, I went last year as well. My first reaction is, well, FIVE DAYS?! Two days was a totally doable two day jaunt last year, but who schedules a whole week for such a small line-up? Regardless, IF I went this year (and that’s a huge IF), I’d go to see Fiona, Raconteurs, Jim James and the Zutons. Fer real. If they all play on the same day, I win … and everybody else does, too.

    16. Dainon  |   Posted on Aug 10th, 2006

Oh hey … you got your wires crossed. It’s just two days, like last year. Oct. 28 and 29. You’re welcome.

    17. When I said too bad it’s in Vegas, I meant because I live like 2000 miles away. Otherwise I’d love to go. :)

    18. fiona apple, the raconteurs, the roots, j5, gomez, built to spill, band of horses, jamie lidell, and the zutons are decent enough..

man, you hipsters are so freakin picky

if you lived in vegas, that lineup wouldn’t be half bad. the only part i don’t understand is, why is it five days long? with that lineup it should be 2 or 3 days at the most

Whats with all the hate? I went last year and it was fucking great. ill admit this years lineup isnt even close to last years but, just being in that atmosphere was insane. there was tons of differnt artists from every type of music. anyone could have found something they liked there. the coolest thing was i saw a group of guys all “G’ed” out sitting with a group of old hippies smoking a phatty just chillin. thats what its about, bringing a diverse group of people together without conflict. fuck im high!!
