Next week Of Montreal releases a double LP of reworked tunes from their last two studio albums, Satanic Panic In The Attic and The Sunlandic Twins (for the turntableless, it’ll be available as a digital download too). Stereogum premiered the Pocket remix of “How Lester Lost His Wife” earlier this summer, and now we’ve got the whole album stream! Listen to Satanic Twins here.
LP1: Satanic Panic In The Attic Remixes:
1. Disconnect the Dots (Mixel Pixel remix)
2. How Lester Lost His Wife (Pocket remix)
3. My British Tour Diary (Restiform Bodies remix)
4. Climb the Ladder (Rory Phillips Trash UK remix)
5. Chrissy Kiss the Corpse (Nils Lannon remix)
6. Rapture Rapes the Muses (DJ Dave P. and Adam Sparkles Making Time remix)LP2: The Sunlandic Twins Remixes:
1. Forecast Fascist Future (IQU remix)
2. The Party’s Crashing Us (I Am the World Trade Center remix)
3. Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games (Broken Spindles remix)
4. I Was a Landscape in Your Dream (Grizzly Bear remix)
5. Requiem for O.M.M.2 (United State of Electronica remix)
6. I Was Never Young (Supersystem remix)
All these remixers did such a great job; but then again, the source material was top notch.
Polyvinyl’s hooked us up with an autographed copy of the double vinyl to give to a lucky Stereogum reader. This pressing is an extremely limited edition of 2000 copies, available at remaining Of Montreal tour dates while supplies last. So if you want a chance to win it, just leave a comment that says why you like the band Of Montreal, the city of Montreal, or the film Jesus Of Montreal. Use your real e-mail address so we’ll be able to contact you if you win (don’t worry; you’re not signing up for anything.) Contest ends Monday 9/14 at 12 PM EST. We’ll pick a winner randomly, so you don’t have to be clever with your comment.
OM tourdates and more streaming goodness here. OM MP3s (demos, live cuts, and a VU cover) here.
Of Montreal – “She’s My Best Friend” (MP3)

I love Of Montreal because when you’re cleaning your house, and it is freezing outside, and you have to go to work later, but you really just want to dance around in your underwear with your significant other, then you listen to Of Montreal.
I like the city Montreal because it is where I first discovered Of Montreal!
I like the city of Montreal – even though I’ve never visited – because so much great music comes from it. And I like the heartwarming sound of a French sentence in the cold.
Club Super Sexe in Montreal, of course!
I love Of Montreal based solely on this poster:
which I bought a few years ago without ever having heard the band. Consequently, I love everything they?ve done.
Of Montreal are supreme and make me happy.
i like Of Montreal because they remind me of this one time my friends and i drove in and out of a closed carwash for the entire duration of the song “partys crashing us now.” driving in circles, in and out. and then back in again. windows down. screaming as loud as we could.
also because my friend john is their biggest fan ever and would flip out if i could get this for him. which i think is a beautiful reason.
i heart of montreal because listening to them is like being hit by a truck full of awesome.
I like Of Montreal because they were kind enough to play a really small coffe house in a relatively small college town close to my home town. Not to mention, the show spakred with greatness, and their music is good for almost all occasions.
I like them because their name begins with a preposition.
I saw Of Montreal in concert and Kevin mock-proposed to my friend standing next to me because her arms are longer than mine and she got her hand in his face faster. Something like this would totally begin to mend the heartache and -break of losing something like that. I also love the excessive amount of glitter that they wear.
I love Of Montreal because they’re one of the most consistent and awesome Elephant 6 bands. Which is saying something.
I f’in LOVE Of Montreal and can’t wait to hear remixes of two of the greatest albums to come out in recent years.
Of Montreal is great because they aren’t from Montreal. Perhaps Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade and Island all came from Of Montreal and not Montreal? Perhaps we all need a good ear cleansing? Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps…
i like Of Montreal because they make me dance
i love of montreal because kevin married me and the audience i was apart of.
I like the band Of Montreal because backwards their name is “Laertnom Fo”.

I saw of montreal in montreal, and I think I had a dream last night that I was in the beach boys first lineup in montreal at a flea market, anyway. one of my favorite bands
i love of montreal because their record, ‘the gay parade’, literally changed me from a sulking sad sap to a happy vibrant chap. i swear it’s true! they really are my favorite band.
Has anyone else heard the Outback Steakhouse commercial with their song “Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games?” It’s reworded to be about Outback and well, it almost made me puke when I heard it. It was on the radio…I don’t know which station since my boss listens all day and just switches the stations at random.
I love Of Montreal because Magical Mystery Tour is my favorite Beatles record.
They played “The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch” by Eno.
Damn I’m late.
I love of Montreal because our house is made of feathers.
Montreal has the CN Tower, and honestly, who doesn’t like tall, big towers? Nobody.
Also I have no clue what Deflated Chime, Foals Slightly Flower Sibylline Responses means. At all.
I like Of Montreal because I also like Brian Eno.
I regularly listen to CBC Radio 3’s podcast and they pronounce it “Mohn-tree-ahl.”
I like Of Montreal because they sign their vinyl releases and give them away.
I like the band Of Montreal because they managed to write a lyric like “I’ve been a gloomy Petrarch with a quill as weepy as Dido” without sounding in any way like Bright Eyes.
I love montreal because it has the highest concentration of beautiful women on the Planet. Seriously walk down St. Cathrines street in the Summer and see what I’m talking about.
Oh and The Arcade Fire too I guess.
i like of montreal because they like outback steakhouse
“Sydney In the Summertime”….. Of Montreal and Outback Steakhouse = Worst marketing campaign ever
The amount of pop hooks that laden Of Montrel records is wonderful, Kevin Barnes’ has a knack for writing amazing pop songs about the most melancholy of subjects.

I like prepositions from places that aren’t Montreal.
I like Of Montreal for covering the Shins and sounding more like them than the Shins themselves.
i love of montreal because of their amazing ability to mix humor and emotion and come off sounding so real and true. i know this sounds cliche, but sometimes i don’t know whether to laugh out loud or cry during their songs. they’re totally original,
i like Of Montreal because they are always so happy, plus i had david barnes (kevin’s brother) do a portrait of my wife and i for our wedding!
blah, blah, blah
I love Of Montreal because their voices sound like magical organs.

I like Of Montreal because their songs make me happy.
I’ve loved Of Montreal for a long time now, which has only been compounded by seeing them live twice now, not the least of which was at Lollapalooza where I got to see the band up close before their set. Fun times indeed.
I like of Montreal because of their pop sensibilty and because they don’t curse
I like Of Montreal because of the costume changes.
Montreal is the coolest city to freeze your ass off in in the middle of winter! Oh, and Of Montreal happens to be one of the best party bands around!
Adpositions such as the word “of” tickle my fancy.
There’s nothing better than Sterogum and me making love like a pair of black wizards to a spanish dance troupe.
I love Of Montreal because they carry me through the best adventures.
I like Of Montreal for several reasons:
1.) It is possible that they may have written the perfect pop album.
2.) Next to Stephen Malkmus, Kevin Barnes is my biggest man crush.
I love Of Montreal because one day I was thinking about what it would be like to have a carnival band play songs in my head about whatever ideas happened to be floating around at the time. The songs would make me happy and I would dance and sing out loud with no regard for who was watching me, because I intended to share the elation. They would be pop songs that rode sugar rollercoasters and forged lazy rivers made of cotton candy.
Then I bought ‘Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies’ and I thought someone had heard my thoughts and made an album to represent the imaginary world and I shed a tear of joy.
I like the band Of Montreal because their music reminds me of shiny dancing alligators.
any band who tours with Jesus is okay with me… that’s why I love Jesus Of Montreal.

I like Of Montreal because they’re from Athens
I like Of Montreal because Kevin Barnes was a huge hair metal fan in high school.
I like Of Montreal because they wear funny costumes and funny costumes are funny.
I love Of Montreal because they let Outback Steakhouse do a cover of one of their songs.
Because when I saw them at First Unitarian in Philly there were so many super cool kids 16 and under that I smiled through the whole show. Energy was everywhere and only half of it was coming from the band.
I <3 OM CUZ TEHY MAKE PURTY MSUCI
I love Of Montreal because you never know what you’re gonna get – perhaps it’ll be Kevin Barnes in a wedding dress, perhaps a breakdown into Europe’s “The Final Countdown,” perhaps a whole skit involving someone’s shadow. And it’s always good.
I like the city of montreal because it’s the birthplace of the word tabernac.
I can’t divulge the meaning, but it’s fun to say.
I love love Of Montreal, because when I listen to The Gay Parade every sound sounds new again, in that old familiar way.

i love of montreal because it’s ok to dance to their stuff.
I like the city of Montreal because a) when I was a kid, we went for a visit, and all I remember is some really cool marionette show some street artist did, b) you can get fries with that melted curd stuff and gravy all at once, and c) My father-in-law grew up there, and he’s really cool.
If for no other reason, the song title “Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games”, makes Of Montreal awesome.
i like of montreal because they make great, dancey music AND have costume changes in their live shows.
of montreal is a bunch of really nice guys ( plus dottie ). I’ve seen them many times and i just really look up to them because their material just keeps getting better and they’re always lots of fun.
I love Of Montreal because at their concert at the Metro in Chicago, the lead singer, Kevin Brown came out in a wedding dress and put a rubberband ring on my finger. So we are now married, and that means I have to love him… even when he comes home drunk smelling of someone elses perfume.
I love Of Montreal because Oslo in the Summertime is an awesome tune.
I luv of Montreal because I don’t feel the need to capitalize the “of” and because they take care of their feet.

Of Montreal rules because they can do a jingle for fuckin’ Outback and still be better than just about every other band.

I love of Montreal because they’re different on every album, and because the first word in the band name isn’t capitalized.
I like Of Montreal because of Kevin’s Dustin Hoffman obsession.
I think Of Montreal did a great thing by allowing Outback to change their lyrics! They get the dough and Outback gets advertising… which doesn’t work anyway.
It’s funny… it’s mocking the company!!

i like of montreal because uh
they’re a gateway into some of the more interesting elephant 6 bands, honestly
a long long time ago i ordered something from insound and they sent me a signed Of Montreal picture with my goods.
I had never heard of them at that time, but that is how I discovered them, and they’ve always made me smile.
Easy.
1.) “You keep me lit like antediluvian Troy.” Are you fucking kidding me? Brilliant.
2. “Ok Children, remember your breathing…1, 2, 3, 4…” and everything that follows. Genius.
Of Montreal are amazing because they have never repeated themselves. Kevin and company have always kept their sound moving from record to record. Of Montreal is one of those bands that seeks to try something new with every record. That’s why I love them.
i love of montreal because they opened a horse and elephant eatery(no elephants allowed, though)
I love Of Montreal because I love clever wordplay, puns, and various other tactics such as the title “Satanic Twins”
I love Of Montreal because your music works as a nice vibrant speech about the state of the (pop) art and “Satanic Panic In The Attic” is a album without flavourings and preservatives, seducing for yours simplicity.

I love Montreal because my old roomate just moved there and Of Montreal because I heard them for the first time visiting my friend in Brooklyn and it was a great trip.

I have never seen the movie.. Or been to the city for that matter. (I have a fondness for Montreal though, because people from that city can open a bottle with anything. Even say, an eyeglass screwdriver.)
I do, however, love me some Of Montreal. I won’t lie: Cherry Peel is my favorite Of Montreal release. If there was a soundtrack to my mind, it would be that album. Every track, every lyric, every note on Cherry Peel is utterly genius. Of Montreal led me to other fantastic (twee pop) bands. EX: Without Of Montreal in my life, I would never have discovered Tullycraft. (And without Tullycraft, I would never have gotten a “I killed for Tullycraft” button. Which would have been a gd shame.) Of Montreal is what the kids call “a life enhancer.”
