Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with the two writers of Gawker’s not-so-secret upcoming music blog. We had a nice chat about K-Fed and Lindsey Buckingham while Lockhart bought us drinks. They wouldn’t tell me what they’ve christened the blog network’s latest brand.

Blogebrity, however, has discovered it’s called: Idolator. (That’s pw-protected; don’t bother clicking … yet.)

Launch isn’t for another few weeks, so in the meantime we can only imagine what they’ll focus on. Or peruse this Google Cache for hints.

One thing’s for certain: there’s no money in blogs. I once read it in an interview with Denton.

But good luck kids!

  1. C’mon, Gawker, appease me and call the new brand “Rawker”. Please?

  2. Begging the question: Who are the writers?

  3. Oooh. “Rawker.” Seconded.

Alex Balk, current Gakwer writer, is one of them.

I bet it’ll be as good as Sploid and Oddjack.

  6. I don’t think the writers want me to say who they are? I dunno — maybe they don’t care. I’ll ask them. It’s not Alex, though.

And RAWKER would’ve been such a good name! I guess it was taken?

Nick D wants you to believe there is no money in bloging, meanwhile he is pulling in somewhere about 80-100K a month on Gawker Media. Personally, I think this site will be better, I am assuming it will be the same style as all the other gawker sites but focuses on music
