i think daniel is BOZO!!! which once again proves how retarded & pathetic he is. & of course that he doesn’t ever get pussy cause he sits on his computer making fun of people that like Mike Patton.
Simon Hell …… reeeeeeeeaaaallly?! I did not know that Australia had produced such seminal and influential artists which shaped the rock scene in this country and also the UK (sarcasm).
You said it – Australia evolved into that music scene and now we are devolving by lauding such rehashed pulp as Jet and Wolfmother. And NO… not for one minute have I ever liked Jet, for what its worth.
The new breed of Australian visionaries get no kudos, much less attendance at their gigs. All the attention goes to palatable rock that Kyle Whats-his-face on commercial radio approves of the Aussie kiddies rebelling to.
I’m talking of artists such as Dave Thrussell (Snog, Black Lung, etc) who writes soundtrack after soundtrack and releases a couple of albums a year under different monikers, yet is largely ignored by his home country (even though he has a large fan base in Europe and the US). Bands like Frenzal Rhomb, who actually have something thoughtful to say. Even Spiderbait, who were all but ignored by this country until they released a fukn cover of Black Betty – low and behold, the rehashed crap won the day for them with the banal Aussie public and made Spiderbait and overnight success 15 years in the making.
And by the way, you say you hate pop – guess what. Jet is the new pop. Noticed that Sportsgirl is selling ‘Rock’ t-shirts for ignorant teenagers to walk around in? “Garage”/”rock” is the new pop. Makes me wanna puke.
I’m sick to death of mike patton obssessed idiots saying what a great musician he is, all he is, is a bloody pretentious try-hard who thinks that the stupid annoying noise he records is actual music! avant-guard my ass!
mike patton is an old washed up piece of shit.. he was a good vocalist in the 90′s and contributed to some cool stuff (mr bungle, faith no more), but he really should have left the music scene a long fucking time ago… now he just seems like a coked-headed fucking sell out that is jealous of other peoples sucsess and will work with any loser out there to gain him fame and a “prolific” name. i dont like wolfmother, but i really would rather listen to their shit than peeping tom, or loads of other failing projects that patton is responsible for. the guy sucks and so does his smug attitude. he acts like a spoiled bitch on her period…. i guess anyone would if they constantly failed at every attempt to release a good record.
MIKE PATTON, YOU SUCK YOU FUCKING SELL-OUT!!!!
okay let’s look at facts vs opinions
if you don’t like wolfmother or patton’s music then that is your opinion, if you look on it as being pointless that is also an opinion (are you all keeping up with this?) if you think patton’s music (noise or other) is horrible OPINION
now let’s look at facts
patton was just expressing his opinion, i’m sure we all talk about bands we think suck or are cool or whatever all the time. when was the last time we made a hit record?! that’s right! it’s also a fact that you don’t need a hit record to voice your opinion. i mean damn i wish there was this much of a shit storm every time i voiced MY opinion, only happens with famous people i guess.
okay some more facts, doing black sabbath COVERS and doing 60s italian pop COVERS is a completely different thing to playing “ORIGINALS” that sound anything but original.
another fact, whether or not your OPINION allows you to like mike patton you can’t class all his music as noise, yeah he’s done avant garde/noise stuff but he’s also worked on metal, lounge, triphop, hiphop, ambient, punk, electronica, rock etc he’s worked with a bunch of different people in a bunch of different genres (whether or not you like any of it is irrelevant to the facts)
here’s another little fact for you: the first fantomas album sold over 30,000 copies in it’s first year (a number which has been far outstripped by every subsequent release) not bad for a noise-metal album on an indie label fronted by a “has-been” rockstar.
time for another opinion, it pisses me off that people who don’t like patton’s music almost always try and label those who do as “fanboys/girls” or “sheep” just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean i cant, and just because i like it doesn’t mean i’m a fucking sheep, i didn’t even get into fnm when they were around i got into patton through hearing a copy of bungle’s “california” album being used as the soundtrack to a friend’s short film.
i especially found this “sheep” idea funny when i was checking out reviews for a david bowie album, one of the few albums he’s done that i like and i found a review that informed me that the only reason anyone would like this bowie album is if they were a fanboy or a sheep following everything he did… wow i thought it was because i enjoyed the music on it’s own merits… nope apparently i’m just a sheep, that’s the only reason anyone would like the album.
one last fact to round things off
what has mike bordin done since fnm split? lot’s of songwriting and starting a new band? nope, he’s drummed for korn (whoop-di) and ozzy osbourne different strokes different folks
My question is. Why do any of you care?
Holy shit. It is his opinion Fucking automatons.
great artist like Bjork,Massive attack, John Zorn and Ennio Morricone think that Mike Patton is an artist, enough say
mills sounds like a sheep to me. most patton fans are in fact sheep and consequently, hella lame. as is pattons music…. so its expected really.
So what if Wolfmother sound like a retro cover band? it doesn’t mean their music isn’t enjoyable to listen to..unlike some of the CRAP mike’s recorded.
“What year are we in” it’s 2006, time for pretentious hasbeen’s to stop critisizing other musicians.
Um, you’re wrong. You say mike recorded CRAP. Definite critcism. Then you say pretentious hasbeen’s should stop critisizing other musicians. And yet you get to criticize mike. Oh I see it now. You want a monopoly over the criticism market. Gotta love that criticism dollar. That’s a hell of a dollar!
Well ‘poontange’ you dick, i’m not a musician!
and by the way, saying mike has recorded crap is not criticism, it’s fact!
These bird-brained little kids that like steppenwolfmother are the same people that go to a system of a down concert while the mars volta is playing and keep saying “when is this crappy band gonna stop so we can see our rock heroes”. And whoever is saying that FNM is responsible for destroying music, are the same people that say “the Melvins are responsible for the Seattle grunge scene”..what a bunch of bullshit. bands like Wolfmommy are one hit blunders spawned from a retro time machine that should have been destroyed a long time ago with the rest of your fashionized music. bands that make shitty music are responsible for destroying the music “scene” or whatever you wanna call it. Im tired of these little fucking emo fags that like bands like “my chemical sunday fall-out romance” and wear gay tight pants and try to skate. you fucks will never understand the mad genius behind pattons music and i hope you dont because your little heads will pop like pimples and you dont deserve to experience music of that magnitude. you are the next generation of music critics and will never get it. go be an editor for rolling stone or something. go get stoned and listen to “pure guava” by Ween. maybe that will knock you off the conveyer belt.
wow, at first i was just mad that all these little fags were bagging on patton, but i went to the wolfmother website and they really do suck! they got all these awards for best rock band/best bass player/ all that shit. any true patton fan knows exactly whats up with that. the singer for wolfmother sounds like shit, and none of their songs are innovative or creative. it sounds like some time machine gone bad. Im amazed at how much praise they are getting especially from someone like jack white. stop trying to bring back the 70s. the wolfmother website doesnt deserve my bandwidth. now they are getting so many more hits because of this patton slam which really sucks because mike deserves it more. but at least people can realize how shitty wolfmother is.
im sure mike patton wouldnt be so vocal on his opinions of say britney spears and the like, but he most likely resents that wolfmother are so successful when his outfits by comparison havent been so openly accepted. hence the outburst. so what? he’s allowed to do that. i’l listen to what i like because i like it i dont care what anyone thinks.
Stupid bands like Wolfmother base their careers on fame rather than music. Just listen to it! Real success comes from years of hard work, dedication and love. Wolfmother is a trend. Do you REALLY think that they are doing something creative?? As long as they are having fun, thats what matters, right? But the truth is it won’t last long and they are pretty much a disposable band. What do you think their next album is gonna sound like? Probably exacly the same as the last one. I think alot of people are putting Mike Patton in the same category as say, Axl Rose or CC DeVille which is unfortunate because all the blind see is Faith No More only…which wasn’t a bad band at all and I don’t see the connection to “Rap Metal”. Axl Rose should call it quits because he sucks, but Pattons got quite a few years left in him. I mean could you ever see Axl Rose singing for Fantomas?? Cmon. it’s unfortunate that people don’t think anymore about music. They just take what’s fed to them like Wolfmother. It’s the new thing! Come check this out! and then it’s over. I would love to see Wolfmother open for Slayer.
Point of order mister speaker:
Yes FNM did cover War Pigs, and yes they did cover it live in the early days of Patton’s tenure, but one should know who the Sabbath tragic in the band was. That’s right, Big Jim Martin. Even at the time Patton was on record saying how much he hated doing Black Sabbath covers, but he was the new boy so he shut up and did his job. After Jim left, I’ve never heard of them doing any Sabbath covers again.
Not bashing Sabbath by the way but as obvious knock-off bands go, Wolfmother and Jet are so flat-out BORING you have to conceed Patton’s point. At least if you’re doing retreads have a sense of humour, like The Darkness (RIP).
I dont care for wolfmother but Mike Patton is a joke and is really one to talk. 90% of the music he puts out is shit. And I find it ironic he is bashing wolfmother saying who listens to this crap while he is talking about making an album of Italian music. I saw him open for tool in boston a few years ago and he got booed off the stage

Saying Mike Patton is a God like it’s fact and saying that Mike Patton sucks like it’s a fact is just fucking idiotic. Everyone has their own personal tastes, no one is going to like the same music and agree on the same music. That’s just the way it is, dammit. You either love Patton or hate him. Whatever. I personally like his work, but that’s just my opinion.
that’s cool if you don’t know who Mike Patton is.. It’s just an easier way of me knowing that I’d never hang out with a fucking loser like you
Wolfmother? Who the hell is that? Mike Patton is God…so live with it
Wolfmother suck so bad it’s beyond funny. Their music is excrutiatingly embarassing – almost more so than their posing.
I like Wolfmother, yeah their musics very “ou of date” and their lyrics couldn’t be less deep if they tried but they’ve got coool riffs that are fun to jump around to, so sue me if I enjoy that. Who cares if it “wont last long” all the more reason, for the people who like their music, to enjoy it why its here.
whao!
I just heard of this… I cannt believe it…
I went to highschool with the lead singer of wolfmother (Kelvin Grove SHS – brisbane) – I can’t remember him… haha and i’ve met mike a few times at his concert… good bloke… I’m not a wolfmother fan at all… I have to agree with mike…there is no art to wolfmother – 70′s cover band, but i’m bias… I love his stuff
He is a living legend.
Long live the words of mike patton!!!
hahahaha
i’d rather eat concrete than listen to mike patton masturbate while ruminating on his fifteen years of critically flatulent “anti-art” art. gwar.
20 years of innovative, experimental (and primarily fucking awesome) music production, means Patton has the right to talk shit about whoever he wants. Especially some imitation dog shit, watered down, ipod commercial, pop garbage.
People have always hated on Patton. They will continue to. And he will continue to make awesome records and expand his legend. Wolfmother will amount to nothing.
Mike Patton is a legend-who the hell is wolfmother? They sound retarded. That music was shit in the 70′s and its shit today.
So I’m with Mike on this!
Wolfmother is the next Zeppelin!
Who the hell is mike patton…Italian Orcestra?
mike patton is awesome, there is NO comparison. wolfmother are nobodies that played a couple of someone elses songs and did an average job of it. mike patton is mike patton, and whoever doesn’t know patton should stop hanging out at primary schools.
despite being a hero of mine, Mike Patton is a whiney little bitch.
Ok, Mike Patton is an incredible vocalist not the best but pretty damn good. Wolfmother from what I heard in the video sounds kinda, not so impressive. He was being a little bitch though, but it was funny.
I’d buy patton a guinness
Here is Wolfmother’s resume. Pretty impressive.

Statistics are bullshit. You can generate overwhelming statistics for manure, but it’s still shit.
People like Wolfmother and people like Faith No More/Mike Patton. Saying one of them “sucks” is unfair, because more than likely a Wolfmother fan hasn’t listened to more than 5 songs by Mike Patton and vice versa. Who knows, maybe there’s a song OTHER than “Woman” that you might like if your preferred artist is Mike Patton.
I love Mike Patton but he does seem like one of those egotistical front men.
That being said, he’s right. Wolfmother blows. It may not be his place to criticize, but they are awful. My generation is simply to ignorant to realize they are a Zepplin/Sabbath ripoff with cheesier lyrics (a hard thing to accomplish). Here today gone later today, just like The Darkness
