Mike Skinner has graciously invited Pete “worst tenant in history” Doherty to guest on his latest single. You can hear their “Prangin Out” collab at MySpace.

Mikey’s such a nice guy, he wants to give you the shirt off his back.

“American Apparel white T-Shirt as worn on stage by Mike at the Leeds festival 2006. The shirt comes in a medium size unwashed! Mike is wearing the t-shirt in this photo, holding a tasty granola bar, also included in this sale. Mike has written on this shirt in a permanent black marker ‘Mike Skinner! Starting bid £50!!!’ This is a great piece of memerabilia for any Streets fan or anybody at the Leeds show.”

Ooh, unwashed!

Looks like if Skinner put on a few more pounds and he’d be a dead ringer for Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket. He’s got that psycho look down right before DeNofrio blows his head off…

  8. Oooooooooh, oooooooooh, a granola bar! I’m goin’ to the kitchen…

if you couldn’t understand pete, the lyrics go something like this: “coke coke coke coke coke coke coke coke coke”

  13. matt  |   Posted on Sep 7th, 2006

That track was brilliant. Most people dont like doherty for doing crack and brown which is fair enough but i think hes brilliant on this track. At least Skinners got the balls to put him on a track and let him talk.

Maybe if you’d listen you’d realise that they are two of the best poets in world.

oh and in the words of doherty

“If you read the press then, check the weather, check the horoscopes, maybe have a look at the sport, but please, please don’t read anything with my name in it and expect it to be even half true”.

  14. fantasic Doherty verse! and to who ever is dissin him saying hes a shit rapper, hes not rapping, he’s a poet, reciting poety, and beautifuly at that. and even if he is trying to “rap” ide like to see you rap on as much junk as pete is on!
But i gotta agree mike has got the psycho look down to a T

some people are so stupid. doherty’s not attmepting to rap. he is a poet and is simply reading over the beat. if some people looked passed the drugs for a second they would listen to the lyrics and realise the genius..

The best thing ive heard in while. Hits so hard when you first listen, just gets better and better

  17. Aiyisha  |   Posted on Sep 13th, 2006

Pete and Mike are both lyrical geniuses of the 21st century. Both may have had issues with drugs, but there issues don’t define there talent. And anyone who claims Pete is trying to ‘rap’; have listen to the fucking song again. Does he sound like he’s rapping? No. He’s a poet. He’s speeking. Something not many people give him a chance to do. A shame really. Because most of what he says iss insightful and well thought threw. x

  20. yeah it’s really good. and even if it wasn’t, who cares? mike skinner & pete doherty are legends, and without the crack doherty would be even better.

“If you read the press then, check the weather, check the horoscopes, maybe have a look at the sport, but please, please don’t read anything with my name in it and expect it to be even half true” someone mentioned that, and i read the interview too. He sounds like an amazing man, wish i could meet him.

  21. I hate Pete Doherty because he’s famous for being a junky more than being a singer. But I do like this track. Pete Doherty is a waste of space, unfortunately.

  22. Stan  |   Posted on Oct 3rd, 2006

this song is mint and if you dnt like pete or the sreets whats the point of commenting..personally i think pete is a legend yeah so what he has had problems..but who hasnt people thought pf david bowie, ozzy osbourne, rolling stones as legens n they all did drugs n just cz he does them this day its a problem?!

  23. katypoo  |   Posted on Oct 4th, 2006

ok, look i know hundreds of poeple don’t like pete, they see him as a waste of rashions, a drug addict and a complete cheating rat. but he has a problem, if someone could help him recover from his addiction to smacl/crack, the world would see how truly talneted and gifted this poet is. he is an artist… we’ve lost too many greats through drink, drugs and other substance abusers, kurt cobain, hendrix and loads more. should we lose another great artist, because he can’t find sufficent help?
    hmmmmmmm think about it

    these guys are legends!
the track is fab and who cares if he has a problem i think it adds to the music

  25. jesus  |   Posted on Oct 10th, 2006

most of the people who said “oohh hes trying to rap” are probably 12 yr old white kids who think there in the ghetto in england if there is such a place if you listen hes not rapping hes just reading plus babyshambles and libertines are better anyway this is gd too just dont like the idiots like the dickhead who said if you didnt hear the lyrics “coke coke coke coke” considering the song is about skinner doing drugs as well so not only are u stupid as u can hear wat hes saying your dissing skinner as well who you like.

  26. I think this is an excellent collaboration; Mike couldn’t have chosen a better person to join him on a track which is on about the effects of come downs and feeling like shit. I think Pete is a f***ing genius and Mike too, How many people slag off Kurt Cobain? He was a total waster! Not saying he wasn’t good in Nirvana they where and still are amazing.

Ok he has drug problems but he is an amazing poet/song writer performer and he has Kate Moss hanging on his ever word.

Basically he has made it and all the people who slag him off are just jealous that he has done so but wasting his life with drugs,

I’m fed up listening to immature w**kers slag him off so if you don’t like it F**K off and listen to something else.

  27. soph  |   Posted on Oct 13th, 2006

i think that this track is great and i also think that it is harsh to call anyone a waste of space espacially if they are a lirical genius if people werent so consistently conformative then mabey they would learn to understand and realize not to be so judgemental and yeah drugs are bad but seriously cant people look past that?

  28. cait  |   Posted on Oct 19th, 2006

i cant get enough of this song. i can listen 2 it 20 times and wont get bored. the words are fantastic, he writes lyrics like eminem. they actually mean something, its not just spewed up shite about love and friends…

  29. chris  |   Posted on Nov 17th, 2006

how can people laugh at petes rappin he aint a rapper. mike skinner dont rap u dont laugh at him. anyone who laughs at pete should try writin like he does no 1 can hes a genious every1 stand bak n appreciate pete ‘legend’

  30. chris  |   Posted on Nov 17th, 2006

people say ‘petes bad’ coz he does heroin kurt cobain did it who slates him no 1 admire pete for his lyrics and the way he delivers em

  31. Its not like in this song Pete is saying ‘ooooo take drugs everyone!’ in fact it is the opposite. He is telling us very bravely about his battle against drugs. I love this guy, and will always. Have a heart people, see past the drugs, listen 2 what he says, he wants to stop doing drugs, he just needs time.
    PETE = LEGEND xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To all those people out there takin the piss out of pete’s rappin. Hello? He’s not rapping, he’s rhyming, its called POETRY! Petes a legend, theres no one out there at the minute who can touch him and if most people stopped thinkin of him as just a junkie n actually listened to his music they’d realise this. Keep going pete, we love you.

Pete is reciting not rapping the mans a genius!!!

  39. I can only repeat what the people defending Pete are saying, but even so.
nobody despised of Shakespeare and Wilde and their dependency in narotics, so it should be no different for pete, hes a poet too.
I suppose the majority of the people nagging him are only aware of the tabloid appearances, which half the time aren’t even true.
‘if you read the press then, check the weather, check the horoscopes, maybe even check the sport, but please, please don’t read anything with my name in it and expect it to be half true’
as i said i can only repeat what people have said.

He’s a man of many wonder’s and will SURELY go down in the poet, rockstar and romanticist history and only his fan’s will understand why.
being rock n’ roll’s most notorious hell raiser means alot more than being bad and rebelling.

He’s not set out to impress you, neither is he trying to influence drugs, infact he’s doing quite the opposite, he’s warning us about them.

I could go on forever, but i sharnt, i doubt whether anyone of you sad, stereotypical, judgemental people will take any notice of it anyway.

Skinner & Doherty are Lyrical genius’s of the 21′st century, in my eyes NO-ONE could come even close to comparing to them and i’m thrilled Mike let Pete have a verse.
    What a pair!
    Legends for sure!
