The last time PiL performed on US television it was 1992 and they did That What Is Not‘s “Covered” on The Dennis Miller Show. This time, at Jimmy Kimmel with their reunion tour looming, they dug deeper into the oeuvre and offered a familiar classic, 1986′s “Rise,” from an Album Girls like.

Here’s a Q&A.

  1. Jimmy also interviewed John Lydon in what is being billed as a “web exclusive”:

I can’t imagine any other late night host doing this. Kudos, Jimmy.

  2. Jimmy Kimmel has such good music taste

  3. Love the original, but this performance is sad/awkward. I know, I know, he’s in for the money, but still…

    RIP Malcolm.

  4. This is so utterly awful.

  5. Oh, great! Another musical figure out doing something productive and possibly even making money by playing really good songs in a live setting.

The is the worst thing ever. Why can’t all music icons or legends kill themselves or fade into obscurity?

That was OK, but it’s really too early in their reunion tour to blame them for any sound issues. Glad to see PiL back, though. Would love to check them out on this tour, even if John Lydon makes money from me if I were to go. :(

  6. its great to see any PiL video and to see them playing. my favorite is a tv appearance i found of them doing ‘poptones”/”careering” on the dick clark show in 1980.
