Attention Lindsey Buckingham fans: five songs from the new solo (he plays almost everything) acoustic album Under The Skin are streaming at lindseybuckingham.com. “Down On Rodeo” is a highlight, but here’s hoping the rest of the album (out 10/3) has some of that Out Of The Cradle edge; few go insane fingerpicking like this guy.

“some of that Out Of The Cradle edge”

There’s actually fondness for that record? He could’ve made another Fleetwood Mac classic, yet opted for the solo thing, and deservedly sold about seventeen copies… lost his hitmaking knack by the time of the reunion.

Redboy, What makes you think you’re the one who can leave such pointless comments? Every little bit. Is there. To see. Every little bit…

“so now artist’s are getting slammed for not taking the easy money corporate rock route? …”

No, they’re getting slammed for taking the boring route.

Lindsey was wasting his time without the Fleetwood Mac machinery.

  9. I gotta admit I wasnt head over heals with the stuff on his website, but I’m totally jazzed about seeing him at the Ryman next month.

  10. I’ll be at Town Hall and will probably even haul out to Atlantic City to catch a second show. Wish I could make it to the Ryman!

Yeah, liking “Down on Rodeo”, but really digging on “Cast Away Dreams”.

How much did the WB pay you to mention it?

  12. who the fuck cares? why is this post on this blog? K-Fed i understand, Britany i understand, Lohan i understand. Steely Dan is fucking cool. This is some serious record label favor shit. boo.

Damn.. Rhiannon’s comments are COMPLETELY off the mark. Lost his hitmaking “knack” by the time of the reunion (I’m assuming you mean the 97′ ‘Dance’ reunion..). Anyhow, I think a lot of people missed how great “Say You Will” actually was and Buckingham hasn’t really given a shit about making “hits” since 1977 if you ask me.

I will say that LB shines brightest when backed by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.. but his solo albums have always been interesting little ditties. There’s some real intreaging stuff on “Go Insane” and “Out of The Cradle” especially. That being said.. take a listen to the 5 songs on his site a few times and they really start creeping up on you. I really think this album is going to be damn good. Damn good, I say.

  14. actually, Kier, if you’ve read Stereogum before, you’d know that they’ve posted about LB before…

and deservedly so, because he rules.

Most of the people commenting here must have truly shitty taste in music if you can’t appreciate Lindsey’s brilliance. “Out of the Cradle” did not sell 17 copies, and even if it had it is still a better album than any of the crap Fleetwood Mac made after Lindsey left the band. He’s so underrated and underappreciated, while I don’t doubt there’s more than a handful of rabid Paris Hilton and Justin Timerlake fans lurking around, just waiting for someone to say how much they suck. LB is a King, and he deserves any great mention he gets. He’s a genius and, frankly, Fleetwood Mac are boring (and pointless) without him. I’ll be buying his new album and seeing him on tour, and too bad for those who miss out. :)

LB is freaking awesome. Anyone who says otherwise either hasn’t listened very well or only likes new, faddish music. Me and you Gina, let’s get tickets.

Memememe: someone with sense (and there are a few others above as well). Methinks most of the “others” really haven’t heard much from this man at all. Yes, let’s go see Lindsey- I’ll be at Cleveland and hopefully Atlantic City. I’ll try and get to one of the November dates somehow as well. I’m just a little Lindsey Buckingham groupie, dontchaknow.

    Has this leaked yet?!?!?!?!

Anyone wanting more of the same will be disapointed, anyone with an adventurous mind will be thrilled by Under the Skin.
I’m wishing Lindsey would take his tour to this side of the ocean (The Netherlands, Europe).

  20. you can hear the whole album at:

    http://www.rhapsody.com/lindseybuckingham/undertheskin

    and it’s pretty fucking great.

i loved Out Of The Cradle and I think Under The Skin is a far superior album. Some of it reminds me of the more brilliant moments on the last two Fleetwood Mac tours. (i.e. the Buckingham songs). this new collection of songs is sort of a dream come true for all the fans that kept hoping he would forget about radio airplay and just make the record he wants.
Well – here it is! Can’t wait for the tour.

Lindsay Buckingham was a major momentum (along with his girlfriend Stevie Nicks) that brought Fleetwood Mac out of obscurity into the mainstream.

Before these two, Fleetwood Mac had achieved little. As soon as they entered the scene Fleetwood Mac began hit making big time. Yes, the musicianship (drumming) of Mick Fleetwood was phenominal and added greatly to the overall effect of this band.

That being said, when Mick Fleetwood left to pursue a different route, (as many phenominal musicians are wont to do) Fleetwood Mac began the slide down and this was even with Stevie Nicks still in the band. When she finally left, the band was a dead horse.

Lindsay Buckingham was a phenominal artist both in pre production, post production, guitar work including lick picking that was at times indicicative of genious. Most extraordinary musicians become bored with repetition as they wish new roads even when those roads will not be travelled by the mainstream commercial society.

This album shows he is still a lyrical and musical force to be listened to by those who prefer a more progressive style and who also love the guitar fingerpicking.

    I personally appreciate this album.

    EDIT:

    This statement:

That being said, when Mick Fleetwood left to pursue a different route

    Should read:

    Please excuse the error.
