Band Of Horses - "Laredo"

“Laredo” is the second new song we’ve gotten from Band Of Horses’s Infinite Arms. The first track, “Compliments,” didn’t win too many compliments, so maybe you’ll like “Laredo” better. It sounds just as optimistic as “Compliments,” with most of the action in the lyrics. I thought Ben Bridwell was singing, “I put a bullet in my Kia Sorento” in one of this track’s verses, which would be funny considering this, but I’m not 100% sure.

Infinite Arms is out 5/18 via Brown Records/Fat Possum/Columbia.

  1. A step up from Compliments… still not great like their previous work.

  2. where’s the reverb???

  3. I like it.

  4. Officially giving up on this band. This is pretty bad.

  5. I fell asleep halfway through this one. So disappointed.

  6. I was looking forward to the new album, but this isn’t very good.

  7. Wow, didn’t hold my attention for 35 seconds. It feels “mailed in”.

  8. Either way I cant help but love everything they do, I’m completely looking forward to it!

  9. Yeah, this is bad. And i really liked their first two cd’s alot. I f’n loved them. I feel bad saying that because they really do just play simple to honest light rock. But this isn’t any good, it just seems weak and half assed.

All good comes to an end, right?

  10. I couldn’t disagree more! This is a GREAT track and I can’t wait for the album!

  11. It sounds like a Gin Blossoms B-side. Which isn’t a compliment.

In other horse-related band news, why isn’t Stereogum reporting on the upcoming album from Foals?? Is math-rock no longer cool?

  12. So disappointed. I just can’t quite let go yet, though. Third tracks a charm???

  13. Compliments has grown on me and I’m feeling this track. I’m interested to see what the entire album will be like.

  14. What happened to this band after they released their debut?

  15. weed party come and gone

    • They left Sub Pop, a great record label, to record on their own label and they seem to have lost a little introspective soul searching somewhere. I still like the songs Laredo and Factory. The harmonies are still moody and interesting, if more pop than I’m used to hearing from them. Seeing Band of Horses at a night club in Seattle on the Cease to Begin tour was an amazing experience. This is a talented group of musicians.

  16. There’s another new song up on the BOH site called “Factory” for free download. Really digging that one, recommend it! http://www.bandofhorses.com

  17. i think the problem is that they havent gotten better or worse. they sound exactly the same

  18. This is a good song lyrically even if the song is simplistic, but simple isn’t so bad.

  19. I guess I need to check out the earlier music buy these guys but when I first heard it I thought of Bad Finger if anyone out here is old enough to remember Bad Finger. Just has that vibe. Not bad tune.
No I didn’t their version of Can’t Hardly Wait but I am a purist when it comes to The Mats I guess.
