In the Flaming Lips’s new “Powerless” clip a girl in her panties struggles against ropes binding her to a chair, while a little monkey looks on. It opens up a whole new arena of experimentation that I like to call “monkey torture.” Though pretty straightforward, the special effects on the girl’s movements make it look like she’s trying to escape this dimension, as well as her torturer. She’s clothed, but her slow writhing makes “Powerless” seem almost as NSFW as the Lips’s “Watching The Planets” video. The clip was directed by Wayne Coyne and Flaming Lips graphics/video guy George Salisbury. According to Salisbury’s Twitter, the band will premiere a video for “The Sparrow Looks Up At The Machine” next.

I Can Be a Frog was cool and this one was alright. I can’t even find the words to describe Watching the Planets.
i think they are actually doing a really great job of making music videos for this album. Some of their best yet.
so relieved she got free…her dance at the end is what made it for me.
