I’m also surprised how much I’m blogging about the Scissor Sisters. Especially because I once deemed them “not so special” on this very blog. Maybe I didn’t listen to the last album enough, or maybe their live show did the convincing, but this band’s songs rise about the novelty.
The formula for almost every track on Ta-Dah is 20% Gibb / 80% Eighties Elton. But this track is different. 20% Supergrass / 80% Duran Duran. From the synth wash chorus to the sexy sax solo … well, just close your eyes and picture Simon Le Bon on a yacht.
It’s a welcome homage too, ’cause the next Duran Duran album is gonna sound like Justin Timberlake. Via myspace.com/duranduran:
Since there has been some speculation about Justin Timberlake working with Duran Duran in the media, we can confirm that ever since Justin presented the band with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Brits in 2004 they have all expressed an interest in working together. To that end, they recently met up with Justin and Producer Timbaland to start work on new music for their next album on Epic/Sony Records. This association is still in the early stages and nothing is finished yet.
No way is it gonna sound this good:
20% Supergrass / 80% Duran Duran. Am I wrong? Tell me who you hear.

I’m glad people are posting more tracks from this album because based on the first track that circulated I thought the band had completely lost whatever magic they’d once had. I’m glad to see it was just a matter of poor ‘first single’ selection.
Now I want to hear SS cover DD because I think it might be the best thing I’ve ever heard.
SS covering DD would be even better than Sigue Sigue Sputnik’s ‘covers’ of Elvis.
Great track!
The next Scissor Sisters single will be 20% Blur / 80% Justin Timberlake.
and they’d still make it sound good
Check out Fettdog’s mashup of this new SS track vs. “Save A Prayer”…pretty cool! – http://www.fettdog.com/fettindex.html
Best song on the album.
