We mentioned Jim James’s appearance on the Preservation Hall’s Benefit LP a couple months back. The house jazz band started a short tour with My Morning Jacket yesterday that will continue to May 2. As you can see in the gallery, the two bands did some songs together, which is no surprise. “I couldn’t have imagined Jim fitting in any better with the guys at Preservation Hall. Jim’s like our long lost cousin coming home for the first time,” Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s leader Ben Jaffe said about recording with James. So their kickoff show was kind of like a (second) family reunion.

Jim James looks OLD here. Is he going bald?
I just heard a recording of this show and they sounded great. I think they even played a new song, maybe it was a cover.
I was there, in the front row, and I was surprised by how young Jim looked. It seems they have been around forever.
And holy shit, that was an awesome show.
That is freaking awesome. I went to preservation hall a while ago and it was amazing. I can only imagine how cool this show would be.

man, you guys don’t know how lucky you are that you live in America, these guys never come to Australia and yet they seem to always be doing shows somewhere in the states.
Only wish I had a time machine so I could get to see this in person. Anyone got one for sale?
