This new Pernice Brothers song’s titled after Jacqueline Susann, the glamorous ’60s writer/personality/David Trinidad obsession who authored the hugely successful “trash” novel Valley Of The Dolls and died of cancer in 1974 at 56. The real subject of the song, though, is a well-rounded crush object reading both Ford Madox Ford (recommended) and Jacqueline. It comes from the forthcoming Goodbye, Killer, Joe Pernice & Co’s first album since 2006′s Live A Little. He worked with longtime collaborators James Walbourne and Ric Menck on it, along with his brother Bob.
Goodbye, Killer is out 6/15 via Ashmont. The album cover was painted by Jeffrey Valluzzi.

Pernice Brothers are so talented and underappreciated and fly under the radar for most listeners since they don’t get very much airplay.
I like this. This may not sound like a compliment, but it makes me think of The Smithereens. Early Smithereens, catchy, pop-rock with an edge. The Smithereens were an amazing live band in their day. If Pernice Bros. are rockin’ out again, I am all for it.
