Motown Philly’s back again, this time in the Swedish hands of Jens Lekman. It’s true, the silent one did a cover of Boyz II Men’s “Water Runs Dry” a couple nights ago at Google Googie’s Lounge as part of his “special guest” role for countrywoman and labelmate Frida Hyvönen . Boys II Men’s original showcased their four voices and flowing white linens: Boys II Jens is Lekman by his lonesome, accompanied by a piano and the Men’s sweet sweet words.

If I had been present for Jens Lekman covering Boyz II Men, you know what I would’ve done? I would’ve held my damn conversation until after the set.
the thing is, all that noise was coming from downstairs. everyone upstairs was dead silent. googie’s sucks for that reason – it’s just not soundproof in the least.

but that’s a good song and jens is a talented man but … this is an odd idea.
I’m not going to lie…. I effing love this! I really wish the recording was better though. I really enjoy the random covers that Jens chooses to do.
