Ben Affleck was pretty great on Saturday Night Live. Maybe they hired some new writers? Maybe Ben wrote some of it himself (technically he is an Oscar-winning screenwriter). In any case, this week’s episode was strong from start to finish. Ben poked fun at himself in almost every sketch.
Here’s a highlight…

Ben Affleck plays himself alongside SNL secret weapon Fred Armisen, who plays Frandi (sp?) a developmentally-disabled extra on the set of Gigli.
Frandi: Ben, Ben … I don’t think this movie’s gonna work.
Ben: What?
Frandi: Wellll … the script has a lot of hooooles in it.
Ben: That’s not a very nice thing to say Frandi.
Frandi: And it’s got logic problems … and it’s … and it’s toooo talky.
Ben: Well, that’s your opinion.
Frandi: Gigli is a terrible title.
Ben: No offense Frandi, but I think I know a LITTLE BIT more about this stuff than you. And I think Gigli‘s gonna be a BIG, BIG HIT.
Frandi: And you’re falling in love with the lesbian again? I didn’t like it the first time … when it was called Chasing Amy.

Fred Armisen is my favorite current SNL castmember hands down. I miss Ferrecito (sp?), though.
I jus’ keeding!
That Bangkok thing was hilarious too. I’ll have photos or a transcript or something tomorrow.
Was it just me, or did it seem like he’s gained quite a bit of weight?
Times have been tough for him since his beard left him, I guess.
Hey incomple!
I meant to ask you…
On my Entertainment Weekly 25 Funniest People post, I really wanted to link to your old LJ entry about lunch w/ the Star Wars wizard guy from the Triumph vid. Does it still exist?
I wonder how long it will take Urban to start selling “Boprah,” “Mary-Kate and Ashfleck,” and my personal fave, “Benyonce” tees!!!
I suggest we be the first to cross something out on them and call up Suchin Pak and Gideon Yagggges to cover our outrage!
This weekend’s SNL show was great. Armisen is fast becoming my fav. Didn’t it seem like Fallon was in more sketches this week….that got a little annoying.
Oh, yes, I’ll get the link. How flattering!

If you just want to link to the images, you can do so directly. My host gives me unlimited bandwidth.
I was thinking the same thing… SNL was actually funny and edgy. I am thinking that all the previous writers must of gotten food poisoning from bad chinese take out and they had to get writers from Remedy Temp. And even Affleck who i absolutely loathe was a good sport.
For a Better Tomorrow…Today.
