Kele - "Tenderoni" Video

Last month Kele Okereke sent an email with a note saying he’d been spending time in the studio with XXXChange, and a picture showing he’d been spending the rest of it in the gym getting totally diesel. This video for “Tenderoni” extends the message, with the Bloc Party leader singing of his DJ’s electronic dance attack with a video conceit that’s somewhere between “Mama Said Knock You Out,” the Junior Boys’ “Bits & Pieces,” and D’Angelo’s “Untitled.” That is: boxing robes and jabs, dark-defying dancers, and shots of a corn-rowed man with an alarmingly ripped torso. Have at it.

The “Tenderoni” single’s out 6/14, with Kele’s The Boxer LP out 6/21 in the UK via Witchita/Polydor and the next day in the States via Glassnote.

  1. is the boxer really kele?? not sure

  2. That is definitely him. Look up the most recent videos of Bloc Party live. Dude is ripped…Not in a gay way, just in a “Hey mate, I wanted to say that you’re looking okay, mate.” Might as well finish it out: “Why can’t a heterosexual guy tell a homosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly. Not all the time, obviously, just when he’s got a problem with his self esteem.”

On a serious note, I can’t wait for this CD!!!

  3. FUCKING AMAZING

  4. how can this possibly be the same guy that wrote songs like little thoughts and tulips. don’t get me wrong, I like tenderoni, but this video is kind of lame. I was hoping he’d do the club-music thing slightly more tastefully.

  5. utter shite. song/ video

who does he think he is.

  6. this is far from “fucking amazing”…this is boring rubbish. Silent Alarm was so solid, most stuff from him and BP since then has been unoriginal poppycock. And it’s not because I’m not into electronic/dance music, i’m very much into it…if it’s interesting, unlike this.
In case you haven’t noticed or do not know enough to figure it out yourself, Kele is not good at formulating a vocal harmony that he hasn’t done 100 times already. it’s too bad

  7. As far as you can get from awesome. The songs sounds dated and the video isn’t very great. But strangely I’m still very curious to hear this album. I’m just a little bit scared of the result now.

  8. Commercial peace of sh*t

Sound is borring and video with dancing girls is soooooooo stuped.

    +1 rick t

  9. this song and video is pretty cool.
I appreciate his diversity in style

  10. I dunno, I thought it was pretty ok… Kele risks coming off as incredibly narcissistic if this “I need to put my new muscly body on display” thing continues. We get it, you went to the gym.
