Continuing its assault on our Top Stories, the N.E.E.T. label imprint has posted two bits of M.I.A.-related news this morning: 1) that M.I.A.’s new album is named /\/\/\Y/\, self-titled in the most html-phobic way imaginable, and 2) /\/\/\Y/\ ‘s release has been pushed back two weeks, to 7/13/10. More amusing than that LP title is the accompanying announcement graphic, which is a collage of the truncated YouTube embeds that have served to disseminate the album’s wares to date. It’s not all landmines with this one. (via P4K)

Maybe it’s because I am 89, but this is stupid and I do not understand it.
She has reached an ultimate level of childish kitch. Totally obnoxious and pretentious, unlike her previous work.
She’s trying hard to out-Gaga Lady Gaga.
annnd mystery solved… it’s supposed to look like it says “MAYA.” took me a while to figure that one out.
M.I.A. > Lady Gaga, I mean stop talking about it, there’s no question…
