Vampire Weekend clips are always fussy, always a little funny, and they hit both with their new clip for third Contra single Holiday. In this clip the band drive around So Cal dressed as 18th century noblemen, partying poolside, eating In-N-Out burgers, and beating up surfers. By coincidence, I had just re-watched Wolf Parade’s “I’ll Believe In Anything” clip with its 18th-century theme, last night. That video isn’t full of anachronisms like “Holiday,” but both are, at their hearts, about arrogance.
Contra is out via XL.

Canadians can’t watch this video – but here’s a link that works: http://bit.ly/d2TN5f
Thanks!
I hope Sofia Coppola was the director.
It’s a little later time-wise, but I wonder why she didn’t do a similarly-costumed video for Liztomania. Also, I couldn’t find a director credit for “Holiday” but I will add when it comes up.
I believe it was The Malloys…again
Awesome video
