Now that Britney’s (almost) rehabilitated, thank god we have Miss Lindsay Lohan to turn to for the sort of “letters of truth” only an overpaid, undereducated starlet could pen. The esteemed director Robert Altman passed away this Monday, and Lindsay sent this heart-felt missive to his family (via USA Today):

“I would like to send my condolences out to Catherine Altman, Robert Altmans wife, as well as all of his immediate family, close friends, co-workers, and all of his inner circle.

“I feel as if I’ve just had the wind knocked out of me and my heart aches.

“If not only my heart but the heart of Mr. Altman’s wife and family and many fellow actors/artists that admire him for his work and love him for making people laugh whenever and however he could..

“Robert altman made dreams possible for many independent aspiring filmmakers, as well as creating roles for countless actors.

“I am lucky enough to of been able to work with Robert Altman amongst the other greats on a film that I can genuinely say created a turning point in my career.

“I learned so much from Altman and he was the closest thing to my father and grandfather that I really do believe I’ve had in several years.

“The point is, he made a difference.

“He left us with a legend that all of us have the ability to do.

“So every day when you wake up.

“Look in the mirror and thank god for every second you have and cherish all moments.

“The fighting, the anger, the drama is tedious.

“Please just take each moment day by day and consider yourself lucky to breathe and feel at all and smile. Be thankful.

“Life comes once, doesn’t ‘keep coming back’ and we all take such advantage of what we have.

“When we shouldn’t….. ‘

“Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of yourselves’ (12st book) -everytime there’s a triumph in the world a million souls hafta be trampled on.-altman Its true. But treasure each triumph as they come.

“If I can do anything for those who are in a very hard time right now, as I’m one of them with hearing this news, please take advantage of the fact that I’m just a phone call away.

God Bless, peace and love always.

Thank You,

“BE ADEQUITE”

Lindsay Lohan

Don’t know about y’all, but that’s fucking inspiring. This Thanksgiving, let’s be thankful for the adequite things in our lives. Let’s also find out what it means to be “adequite.” Amen.

Give the girl a break. I’m sure we’ve all (except perhaps, the holier-than-thou) have fired off quick emails with appalling grammar. I know I have, even if I’m normally quite proud of my language skills (even in English, which is not my first language).
It seems Ms. Lohan’s problem is not necessarily a lack of language skills, but a lack of judgement; a letter of condolence(?) should perhaps be something more than a quickly jotted down email?

To all you clever writers : How much do you earn ? How many people know you? How many movies have you taken part in ? And who cares about anything you say or do ?
HA, HA ! This is my butt laughing at you all ! No matter how much crap you are writing, nobody will ever recognice you ! And if Lindsey will write a letter to my family when I’m dead, I’ll be honored ! You losers will just have to hope that someone will remember you (or your family) when your time has come !
Yessss ! I love it when a bunch of losers try to write crap about people who made it! What do they call it ? Envy ? Whatever you write, try to climb out of your gutter (and have a nice weekend !)

  6. Ms. Lohan is an attention starved moron. While I can appreciate that she was upset over Mr. Altman’s death, why was the letter released to the public. If she did not wish to be scrutinized, why didn’t she just send the letter PRIVATELY?

  7. zack  |   Posted on Dec 1st, 2006

Um…aside with all the prejudices and stereotypes, perhaps, in a logical way, she might have mixed the nature of condolence with something more of an Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address” type of thing (no compliments to her).
But personally i think her intentions are not very legitimate…
Condolence letters should be more private, that way feelings could be truly felt, without the suspicions of anybody trying to get on front page.

let her be she vas just trying to be nice fuck all off you!!!! miss lohan is probertly a grat women!!!!!!!

I think it is disgusting of media to mock someone for something simple as grammar mistakes. It is even more disgusting when this is a condolence letter.
She can be a good actor even if she suffers from dyslexia.

  10. villemej  |   Posted on Dec 1st, 2006

where’s all the dyslexia? of course some grammar mistakes, but who can honestly say they write everything perfect when they chat with a friend on msn?
come on people ( read journalist ), get a life!
    plis!

    omg..
to be honest guys, why on earth do u even bother picking on lindsey? just because she doesnt write good? im not a good writer myself. but i dont understand why the f**k u fat lazy PC Geeks who think you are so fucking good in everything, are talking shit about her, U HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO THAT! to all PC geeks, and nolifers, GET A LIFE, Girl friend and Maby friend who are NOT on the net! so just Stop judging Other people and take a Look on yourself, and your Writing!

miss lohan is most probably a Very nice girl if u get to know her. 1 more thing, U ROCK GIRL!

  12. To be honest, it’s kind of weird how obsessed people are about this poor young girl. We raise all famous people up on a pidestal and think they are all perfect with zero flaws, guess what guys THAT AIN’T THE CASE!

Lindsay isn’t perfect like any of us, and so freakin’ what if she couldn’t write better than this at a stage of grief? At least she wrote it herself, I’m sure most of these famous guys have managers who do it for them.

    Give her a fucking break.

  14. USA’s story says “Lindsay Lohan today released a statement…”

If she releases it, it’s fair game.

    And an exceedingly easy target.

  15. Christobuda  |   Posted on Dec 2nd, 2006

Perhaps she is not proficient with her writing skills, but she has found a way to earn money by utilizing the skills which she does possess. I think that being able to make a good living in today’s society far out weighs the bitter criticism of grammer and spelling. The intention was well meaning, and I could sense her sorrow from the material that I read. Miss Lohan, it’s admirable that you made a concerted effort to express your condolences. Also, one should be honored to have a friend even remotely similar to you, whose personal sentiments are in a morally sound place. Bless you…

OMG!! we had to read this stupid letter in my english class!! we all laughed so hard. i know shes a star and what not, but GOD!! i dont know why she wanted that thing to be published. Iknow she meant it well, but before you nationally publish a letter, plz just take a second to check it.

    “BE ADEQUITE.”

    Taylor

  17. Rich  |   Posted on Dec 4th, 2006

I guess I’m a little surprised USA Today didn’t have the decency to edit the letter for grammar and clear misspellings. Publishing something that “inadequite” doesn’t do the family any good and it doesn’t help her any, but it does guarantee that the press will jump all over what was essentially a thoughtful (though poorly thought out) thing to do.

  18. wickedgirl76  |   Posted on Dec 28th, 2006

Why is it that anyone who blindly defends a stupid retard celebrity like Lindsay, always come up short of defending her with resorts like, “Get a life”, “You have no right,” “Get over yourself,” “You’re jealous”??? What are you people, like 13 years old?? “You have no right???” What right do YOU ass-kissers have to seagull a site like this dedicated to bashing shitheads like Lohan and telling us that we have no right to do this or say that about Lindsay?? How about you threatening to shut this site down if it bothers you oh so much?? This site bashes Miss Lohan, and we’re just following along. Chickenshit much, ass-kissers?? Lindsay Lohan is a dumb fucking idiot, and a hideous one at that. The end!

Now, I know it’s exceedingly unfair to attack a letter of condolence the way I’m about to, and it’s equally unfair to attack such a blatantly easy target, but here goes:

Firstly, let me say that, in my many years spent online, I have seen some bad writing. I have watched people butcher the King’s English in ways you couldn’t believe, but this takes that concept and expands upon it. This is no longer butchering the language, this is murder. These poor words have been slaughtered.

It (the letter) starts off more or less ok, given that the person responsible cannot be held to the highest of standards concerning… anything, but close to the end, somehere around “Life comes once…” it begins to degenerate, becoming a pseudo-random mix of words linked by only the thinnest of threads.

To be frank, If I had to die, and someone were to write something like this, I would be insulted. I would return from whatever afterlife I had departed to, just to find them and smack them upside the head.

I do not even dare to consider the kind of mind responsible for this, and for the “Way of the Future” e-mail. Whatever terrors lurk in that shrieking, tenebrous abysm of a mind are best left to those trained in such matters, and armed with various powerful medications and padded chambers are required to properly treat the condition.

Truthfully, I cannot understand how the family could accept this. Where I in their position, I would point out the perpetrator and say “We don’t know this person, Uncle whotsit didn’t know this person. It’s just some freak from work… probably wants money.”

Then I’d move to florida… and become an architect!

    But that’s just me.

In closing: Hell… heckfire…. faith and begora… exclamations fail… I think I need to go carve out my own eyes now…
