Last week we mentioned Dirty Projectors’s Dylan cover as part of the Levi’s Pioneer Sessions. The Shins’s James Mercer stopped by Levi’s to produce this cover of Squeeze’s “Goodbye Girl” (from their 1978 album Cool For Cats). Listen below.

Squeeze’s founding duo Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook announced earlier this year that they would spend the summer writing music for a new Squeeze album, as well as touring the US and the UK. They’ll play the Isle of Wight festival this weekend.

Nice job updating one of the top 3 Squeeze songs. I’m glad they kept the Difford/Tilbrook-patented two-octaved chorus, and surprised they kept the Anglicism “sunlight on the lino” in there while changing others (I guess when a lyric is perfect, it’s perfect). This one’s going on my rotation.
you’ve probably answered this elsewhere, but what made you decide to post songs as flv files? mp3s are so much easier for me to just listen in my browser and not have to download anything.
i figured out it was a problem with my flash blocker in firefox… everything plays fine in ie. now i’m going back and listening to everything i missed.
